It all boils down to your financial situation. Where do you want to be in 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 years financially? Can you make your goals and buy a new car? And if what you are buying is not 100 % better than what you are selling then don't sell. Good luck.

I am in similar situation, I get tempted by the new 5.0 even though my 2010 GT is all I ever wanted and more . . . personally I am going to wait until the fall or early winter and see if they have any super incentives on the new 5.0, if they do I might go for it, if not I'll be happy with what I have . . . and maybe mod it with a blower or whatever a few years down the road.
So that's my suggestion -- at least wait until the late fall; the incentives should peak in November and December before the year end.

Not a chance. You've already got an excellent car. I could see it if someone were talking about a 2009, because then it's not just a powertrain upgrade, but a much upgraded interior, too. The 97 extra hp and couple mpg difference do not justify all the money you would have lost in depreciation. I'd get the 2010 paid off, then throw on a supercharger if you feel you need a lot more power.

That's what I like about the deal - you can walk away from the '10. Usually you get beat so bad this early on a trade that doesn't happen. Heck even with a lease you almost always have to cop out some cash to walk away.
If the glass roof is a deal breaker - or you don't want to change colors, I understand.
But if you can trade up for a 5.0 for same pmt just by signing a piece of paper.... I say dew eeet!

I traded in my 2007 GT/CS on a 2010 vert a few weeks ago, and I honestly thought I would keep that car forever. With the deal I got, my payment actually went down with no money down, so was happy with the deal. I LOVE the new car. As much as I would like to have a 5.0, I saved 10k getting the GT, and it seams like I get pulled over for aggressive driving once a week, so its probably a good thing.

Also I can tell you from personal experience I've had 2 2010s both 4.0s so I can't relate gt wise but one auto one manual. I drove both an auto and manual 2011 3.7* I know I know I didn't drive the 5.0 because I knew from the sound alone when the dealer started it I would fall in love with it* that the 2011 is a much more refined car stock for stock the handling is better braking is better nvh is noticeably better, I've really gotten to love my built in blind spot mirrors*they have saved my *** from several aggressive drivers cutting up the inside of my blind spot more than once* I can't imagine the difference you would feel going from the 4.6 to the 5.0 in terms of power etc that being said if you we're going to get shafted I wouldn't do the trade as the 4.6 has tons of aftermarket support and since you already have the improved design&interior but since your not getting the short end of the stick if you think of it as a lease because either way lease or buying those payments are like your renting the car and you lose em. Hope this makes sense and good luck either way my .02c is go for it

I'm with KC. You really need to see, especially as a daily driver, how accessible the peak horsepower and torque is around town. When I got my 2010, I wanted to feel the suspension refinements as compared to my '07, along with the added acceleration feel of the slight additional horsepower. The suspension tuning sold me, along with the styling and interior changes. I could justify a trade of a 3.5 yr old car for a new one because of how much I paid down vs the trade-in value at that time. Also, I figured if I had 100 more hp in my daily driver, I'd be hard pressed to really use it fully, based on my driving habits.
One can definitely can get excited to read of all the stories on the forums here as people are getting their cars. Without that drive, I think it is difficult to see if the extra power will be worth the money. This is about the only "logic" I would put behind this decision, because as others have mentioned from a purely financial view, many people would say "not worth it at this time".
By the way, I purposely chose the 2010 over the 2011 for several reasons -
1) I didn't want 412hp in a daily driver
2) I wanted to save money getting into the restyled S197 Mustang (bought this past December)
3) I like having 325lb-ft of peak torque in the 4000 RPM range from an engine that runs 87 octane and is geared with a 3.55 rear for highway driving (of course, the new manual is improved with a 6th gear for cruising)
4) I wanted to see what would happen with the 5.0L in model year 2012 (Boss Mustang)
Good luck in your decision.

I would never say it sucks. I love my car and would really miss it. Hell sometimes I just open the door to the garage, turn the light on and smile. I found a 2010 with the options I wanted and would do it all over again. I traded my 2007 GT for the interior upgrades because that was my only complaint with it. I'm just posing a question to get opinions. I'm in a position to trade if I want to. I have a $750 coupon and life is short. That's all.

Wow! You guys are great. Thanks so much for all of your opinions, I really appreciate them. A lot of you have said what I was thinking. It’s very exciting to read about and see the pictures of all the new ones showing up here. I know I have a great car and it doesn’t really matter the year, engine size, color or options; it’s a Mustang.
