would you buy a BOSS stang or new body style in 09?

Not knowing the specs and prices for either the 2008 Boss or the 2009 GT, it's almost impossible to decide yet. I still hope the 2009 will look even better than the 05-08, which will tilt the balance in its favor for me.
If the 08 Boss will be less than $5000 more expensive than the 09 GT, then it's the Boss. If it's more than that, then I'll have the new body 09 GT and add a supercharger to my 05 GT. Can't go wrong with that, IMO.

Tough to give a definite without seeing either however, you can't go wrong with the Boss. I would almost definitely go that direction. GTs as we know eventually become a dime a dozen. This is of course that finances would allow such a purchase. A Boss that is sub-$35,000 would be hot stuff.

It all depends on how well its executed. If it turns out to be an overweight, overpowered and overpriced Dreadnaught like the GT500, then no.
If its a slimmer, trimmer, more athletic and well balanced road racer in the spirit of the original Boss 302, at a good price value, then we might have a buyer here. I hope they won't go overboard with cheesy graphics and ornaments, or at least make them deletable, for those who don't like to look like a performance car circus come to town.

For me, it would depend on how well the '09 turns out and also what the price differential might be. But that said, I won't be done paying paying off my '07 in '09, so I won't honestly be buying either one...
Still, it doesn't hurt to dream.

Hrm..2009 Boss or 2010 redesign with ____ motor....
or a 2008 _____
hrm...
I'd have to go with the redesign myself.. I can't keep trading in cars every 2 years
Although the 2008 _____ could be very tempting

IRS would certainly be a huge asset for any car aspiring towards handling excellence on more than creamy smooth roads. But it would be the overall package and value that would matter in the end. How well is everything executed, balanced and built? And will it represent an excellent value?
The GT500 sacrafices too much soley for straight line acceleration, too unidimensional, and doesn't represent nearly as good a value as the earlier Cobra's did, IMO. While it does modestly improve handling and braking, it still is primarily a straight-line beast.
I would see a Boss as a more broadly fleshed out overall performance package that better balances handling, braking, steering, compliance and acceleration -- something more akin to a poor-man's M3 in character of being a serious back-road/road-course dissecting machine.
For the strip pony, Ford ought to also roll ought a Mach I with a big, torquey 'ol 5.4 (or Hurricane?), stout if crude tractor axle, bedecked with all the flashy graphics, scoops and spoilers as more fits the drag-strip image.

Hard to tell at this point without the benefit of the pricepoint/hp rating of the Boss and no clue as to what the '09 is going to look like....anyone have an indication of Ford's direction with the next gen stang?
