Would removing bama tune now matter?
No Eric, Steeda has 0 failures. They actually run certain parameters in the tune that assist in cooling. Remember that they are in Pompono Beach, Florida so their cars are all tuned, dialed in, and tracked in the hottest part of the country. Call Gus and get some reassurance, then install your 93 tune and drive your 5.0 like it's meant to be driven.
Over the highways in late afternoons (due to radiant/reflective heat), the temps here in Dallas register over 117 degrees and it's times like those that I baby my GT and other cars just to minimize the stress on them.

I *think* if worried about warranty, if you go back to stock AND complete the drive cycles before any faults are logged, they wont balk about it...what I read it sounded like folks reflashed a blown motor and then took it back with no driving cycle completed- if so I would think that could easily be legally 'fraud', as really, it is.
if you reflashed it, then replaced the battery, and redrove the required driving cycles, you could truly say you unhooked the battery whenever- and they could see a undamaged engine ran its relearn time, everything should be fine...especially as odds of a issue with a stock tune should be near zero. however if they ask if it was tuned, which they should, I'd be honest...otherwise you could end up in trouble if ford starts cracking down on reflashed warranty stuff...think about it, if a third party tune blows up a known great engine, why should ford warranty it. personally I couldnt do it...I fried my 2nd synchro powershifting at the track, a few buddies were adamant I should take it in under waranty...no, I abused it, I broke it, wasnt fords fault that a passenger car transmission 'only' held up for 20 or so runs barking the tires at 6k at the track...wether ford woulda fixed it or not, it wouldnt have been right to have them pay for it. now had the motor grenaded, I might have felt iffy- its got a stock tune/revlimiter, should protect itself- which it has done flawlessly. I got a freebie 5/75 warranty after my first one got crunched by the carhauler back in 05, only 'warranty' claim I had was the seatback levers both broke off...the redesigned ones have been fine for 5 years now, warranty gone...no worries.

American Muscle is not covering anything other than damage to #8, and only on newly purchased tunes after they started offering the warranty, only on cars tuned with only their tune, no prior tunes, no modifications to their tune, etc..
So yes, AM offers a warranty with the new Bama tunes, but it isn't simple, or comprehensive.

They cannot legally offer a warranty on a product allready sold, but they have stated they will still give the warranty to anybody who used thier tunes. And of course they won't warranty other tunes damage or modifications, that's what is causing the problems.
To get back on point, my point was that Pompano Beach is at least 10-15+ degrees cooler than many places in Texas including Dallas where I live. The disparity in temps is even greater in some of the western states.
Thus, for folks in areas with weather like mine who read your post, I am clarifying for them that, contrary to what you said, [Pompana Beach, FL is ] "in the hottest part of the country," is in fact not the hottest. Not even close. That's why I wouldn't assume something developed in Pompano would perform the same where I live or if I lived in Phoenix, AZ.
I was definitely stressed for a few days, but thanks to the support from members here, the fact that there have been zero fails with Steeda tune (my choice although I've run bama on my 2005 gt and LOVED IT) I've decided to just enjoy the hell out of my car. Since ultimately there is nothing you can do at this point. Enjoy your hp and your car. I know I will.

Good call, ford4v429
This has been a pretty good discussion, even covering novelty light bulbs (which I have to go search for!
) But it's really good to see that most people don't want warranty covereage for stuff they caused by their own abuse. Undoubtedly, there are people who are just keeping their mouths shut to avoid internet ridicule who just might go in for a warranty repair on something like a fried synchro...but for those of us who want to do the decent thing, this is the way to go.
As for going back to stock prior to any fault code and having Ford honor the warranty for an unrelated failure - this would be a case of Ford offering us the same decency. Obviously, expecting that a corporation would ever allow morality to factor into its decisions is a foolish thing to even hope for...but it's worth a shot if you're worried about it.
So I'll just add this- I have been back with the stock tune for about 1500 miles now...and I have completely forgotten the difference between the Bama tune and the stock tune. This car is still one of the fastest machines I have driven, it still rips through the RPM range, it still rockets out of corners...
...yes, the power and responsiveness of the aftermarket tunes is worth the money but there is huge power to found from the stock state of tune and lots of fun to be had.
So to anyone else who is backing off the tuning for a while until they're sure that all is good with the #8 situation, fear not. This car is the current king of the muscle car hill for a reason.
