Building owner had traps set today, but I'll never know if they get that one or not.

Ford called a little while ago and said they are way behind and most likely won't be able to get to my car tomorrow to look at it, but that's ok.

Unfortunately, I am riding the bus to work from now on effective immediately. Luckily though I found out there is an express bus to downtown within walking distance of my house so I guess I don't even need to mess with park and ride BS.

LOL that's hilarious...might want to change it to squirrel though instead of rat.

The tech came out from the back and plugged in his scan tool and pulled a code for a right rear wheel speed sensor. Sensor checked out fine, so car is back in the bay being looked over again to see if any more wires were missed.

I've been shuttled back home again.

Rat, squirrel, same thing, different tail. Both annoying destructive bastards.

ford called, stripped every single plastic off the undercarriage, found a second nest, needs to overnight a part as well.

another $750 on top of the initial $345 I paid on Saturday, the $150 in parts I ordered to replace myself, and the $375 I paid this morning.

Just contacted insurance to get them involved, I'm north of $1600 at this point.

A freakin tree rat in love with a horse? Man, that's just wrong in so many ways~

I would insist the management company uses a live trap and hands the little ***** over to me for proper extended, anguishing punishment.

Car is back at home and I got the new hood liner etc. installed. Insurance process is started, but I haven't heard from the adjuster yet.

Everything seems good with the car, but there was one peculiar thing - I had it out for a drive yesterday with temps in the mid-upper 20s and everything was fine, but a couple hours later I went out to the car which was in a 70 degree heated garage, and when I started it the ambient temp on the stereo was still saying 25. Opened the garage and let it run for a bit and it wouldn't budge from 25, even went so far as to get a hair dryer and blow hot air on it and it was still stuck at 25. Took it around the block at night and the temp fluctuated a degree or two, so it wasn't stuck. Put it back in garage after that.

But then this morning, went back out to the garage and started it and it said 65 right away, so I don't really know if there's something wrong or not. Might need to take it back to Ford tomorrow and check for a loose wire or bad connection or something. I had disconnected both positive and negative terminals to replace the battery bag yesterday afternoon, but can't see why that would matter.

Insurance is awesome.

Total damage was $1602, and I have a $500 deductible so was expecting $1102 back. And honestly I thought they might try to make it less since this was technically two incidents. But nope, they called it all one incident and instead of giving me $1102, they are giving me $1183. They reasoned that since I replaced a few parts myself, they normally would've had to pay the dealer labor so they are paying me labor instead. So I'm only out about $420 total.

Love my insurance company, they always come through with no hassle.

I'd hold off saying that until you see your premium next time you get the renewal statement.

It won't go up since it's under comprehensive, much like it didn't go up when my wheels got jacked.

thanks, american family.

still not sure about the thermometer. set garage to normal temp of 57 when i left for work this morning. came home just now, started car and external temp said 55 which was good, just like how it said 65 this morning when i woke up with the garage set to 70.

took car around the block, temp dropped down into the upper 20s which is right, bring it back into the garage and it was reading 27. pulled out the hairdryer, still 27 even after like 10 minutes of high heat blowdrying right on it through the lower grille. touched it with my fingers and it was definitely warm.

so i dont know if its just super slow to start reading warm temps once it gets cold or what the deal is. but i know for a fact ive seen it climb quickly when pulling into a touchless car wash in the winter, so i dont know if i like that explanation.

seems to work just fine other than coming back up to warm temps?

i should also note that i can move the thermometer with my fingers throuh the grille - i can move it up a bit (didnt see how far it would go), but when pushing down it stops in the horizontal position. nor sure if thats normal either
