Will SVT Return?
You could buy it and an aftermarket S/C and do it yourself.
If you're worried about warranties, I would steer clear of any Cerebus products until we're sure they aren't going anywhere. Just becuase they say you have a lifetime warranty now, doesn't mean anyone will be around to honor it in a year or two.
Nah to be honest i'm looking at a Mazdaspeed 6. It is the closest I can get to a Fusion SVT. It shares the same platform but the 6 has AWD and a turbo 4 with 275hp. Sport trucks are just way too much money for me at this time.
My roomate has a Speed6.... awesome car.
The AWD is very eager to send power to the back wheels so you can easily get power on oversteer on dry city streets.
The clutch does take some getting used to. And the trunk is smaller than a normal 6 sedan, with seats that do not fold down. But it's the most fun you can get in 4 doors for less than $30k

I really hate to say this, but Ford does not own Mazda..Ford shares an alliance partnership with them, and are also shareholders..Much in the same way as GM does with Saab, and Subaru..
However, Mazda remains independently owned..and also remains headquartered, and based in Japan..In addition, the Mazdaspeed 6..Is not an actual Ford product, nor are any of their other vehicles..

So yes, on a purely technical level Mazda is not "Ford." However, they function as a branch of Ford for all intents and purposes. So what point is there in bringing that point up anyway??
The Mazda 6 is made on the same assembly line as the Mustang. And I mean the exact same line... You might see Mustang, Mustang, 6, Mustang, 6, 6, 6.... and so on. So either the 6 is a Ford product or the Mustang is a Mazda product.
The Mazdaspeed6, however, is produced in Japan.

I dunno how the whole ownership goes but I do know that the 6 shares the same platform as the Fusion. What I really wanted was an SVT Fusion and the closest I could get is a Mazdaspeed 6. Why doesnt Ford take a shortcut put all the goodies from the Madaspeed6 (AWD, 6speed, turbo 4) and put it into a production Fusion and slap an SVT badge on it! Though the body panels are different sitting inside of the Mazda is similar to the Fusion even small stuff like the light switches are the same...actually come to think of it the 6 has the same ac vents as the s197 Mustang.

Ford owns a controlling interest in Mazda: while the Hiroshhima crew are technically their own company than can do nothing without Ford's say-so, and they pretty much have to do whatever Ford says. They're kind of like a conquered country, though without ethic cleansing. As a result, Mazda is as integrated with Ford as possible without being an actual "official" branch of the parent company. GMs partnerships are much more loose, and in some cases vary product-to-product.

Although Mazda can do nothing without Ford's say-so, it's just as you pointed out..Mazda is not an official branch of Ford, just as Mazda's vehicles, are not official Ford products..Which includes the Mazda 6, and Mazdaspeed 6..
As for the Mazda 6, being built alongside the Mustang is concerned...That is a direct result, of Ford and Mazda's alliance partnership, and nothing more..Hence the plant name (Auto Alliance International ) Therefore the Mustang and Mazda 6, do not share the same product lines with one another.
Even though Ford and Mazda, share technology together.. they still remain as 2 independent companies, from one another..And until there's an actual merger..Their product lines, also remain separate from one another as well...That's my point !
I must admit the Focus was a disaster for SVT and the 04' Cobras and Lightings sold at rebate in late 04' But, this was in part because both the Mustang and F-150 were about to receive new body styles. Too bad though... I thought the next gen Lighting concept was really cool, The Roush and Saleen F-150s don't do it for me mostly because of their price points and minimal if any performance gain on the Lighting
From a peformance standpoint. From a money-making standpoint it stunk out loud.
My friend has an SVT Focus and it is a fun little zippy car but they should have given it some more grunt. I think they should have went the same route as the other American sport compacts, a supercharger! I don't understand how they Supercharged the Cobra and the Lightning but not the Focus. The Cobalt SS and Neon SRT4 both were supercharged and had over 200HP each. I think the Focus only had something like 170? But one thing that amazes me about the Focus was that it was the best equiped SVT of the time. My friend's 04' has HIDs and heated seats....can't get that in a Cobra or Lightning
