Those are typically satellite antennas. Either for radio or navigation.

its possible. i am questioning that because a shark fin mod is available for the Mazda 3 which has a standard roof antenna.

To be honest, I am happy that they at least took it off of the front right fender which is where it has been since the mid 1960's.
