None of us here posting have ever raced at a light ever so we are perfect! And saintly..... " crickets"
We all have gone WOT on the street which is the same as lining up next to another car. I will admit I do it numerous times each time I'm out, but then again that's with no traffic around me or kids playing kickball next to the road.

WOT is not the problem. Its the mindset you have when racing another car vs just going WOT. You are a lot more likely to stay in the throttle and go past the point of no return when racing another car. Adrenaline levels are much higher and decision making is different than just going WOT at random.

I certainly feel bad for the deceased but I can't help but wonder why some spectators want to be literally an inch away from the action. I'm certainly not saying they deserved it either but you need to use common sense when you play with fire so to speak.

I'm sure accidents at illegal outings has been going on since the cave man days.

Lol A few hundred years ago, a similar headline might have read something like:

"Ye onlookers shisk-ka-bobbed at most dishonorable jousting match."

Now that just seems dumb.

Vehicular manslaughter? Sure

Murder? Really? He arrived that night and just decided to race intending to kill someone. I don't know who their DA is, but that is just stupid. Hope they can prove premeditation, and that the guy was skillful enough at driving to spin the car 180 degrees, and kill the exact person or persons he showed up that night wanting to kill.

I thought that same thing. Murder is too far. It sucks that this happened, but they weren't exactly innocent victims either. Unless I misunderstood, they were willing participants to an illegal activity.

I see where the article shows the guy has been charged but they provide no proof really.

Now he claims he wasn't the driver, but it was his Mustang. Still, why would you run away and abandon his vehicle. And he didn't know the cops would be looking for him till he saw the news? I'm sure he knew the cops were looking for him the minute his Mustang was wrecked and he ran away like a coward.
