Who has the lightest 2011+ Mustang GT?

How much does it weigh? How did you do it?

I have asked around and gotten some pretty good advice on light weight parts on the forums before... some suggestions were things like forged wheels, muffler deletes, rear seat delete, carbon driveshaft, etc..

...but who has actually done a bunch of these mods? Does it make a noticable difference in performance or feel? What mods were worth the expense and effort? Which would you skip?

The best weight saving mod is a driver mod. And the cheapest. Hit the gym

Ditching 100 lbs improves 1/4 mile ET's by a tenth of a second.

Too true.

I have heard this stat before...pretty amazing. In addtion to acceleration though, there are also benefits in handling, braking, fuel economy (if you care about that kind of thing) and of course wear and tear on all components.

Going lighter is like the all-around best possible mod, IMO.

Dynotech carbon fiber once piece driveshaft. Half the weight of the factory two piece and handles tons of power. 1,500RWHP I believe. Maybe more.

Anything is better than your Brembo wheels. They're heavy as ****. Forgestars or TSW Nurburgrings are my choices.

Rear seat delete saves about 45 pounds if you take out everything. Seat belts, etc.

Tech @ PST wrote me back stating a carbon fiber shaft for me would weigh ~ 17# (believe the stock 2 piece steel shaft is ~ 46#) and runs ~$1250.

That and the Nurburgrings you mention are on my short list.

Have heard that 1# of rotational mass is ~= to 10# of stationary mass regarding acceleration...would like to know if the ratio is really that high.

Will likely buy a can of fix o flat and compressor, put the spare in the shed and relocate the battery to the spare wheel well, too.

Wow never knew Brembo wheels are that gluttonous... Rim must weight close to 40lbs...

an axle back system should save you around 20-25lbs depending on make.

That sounds better...

How do these compare to other 19x9 wheels? Are they really that heavy?
I have to confess that I'm more familiar with 15" tire/wheel setups and what kind of weights to choose from.

The stock 2000 style 15" 5 spoke wheels on my Miata with high performance 225/50/15s comes in around 32lbs.
