When driving an Auto!

Please turn off traction control/advanced stability or put in Sports mode before telling us how disappointed you are in the 6spd auto. After you do this and you are still disappointed then kiss my grits!

Amen! I preach Mustang 6-speed auto and, having owned many manual transmissioned cars and know how much fun they are to drive, yada yada yada, my humble opinion is that the new 6-speed automatic is worthy of respect.

Folks who give me a hard time about my "slushbox" (which it ain't, LOL) will get an earful from me when I start off by telling 'em, "Yeah, okay, sticks are fun, but they suck in stop-n-go traffic". If my 'Stang was a weekend car or I lived away from traffic, then yeah, sure, 6-speed manual would be cool. Otherwise, I'm all for progress and I have no hangups with enjoying an automatic 6-speed in my 2011 Mustang.

I wish they would have used the 'pistol grip' type shifter, as used in the F150, Fusion, Focus, etc, rather than the huge 'T-handle' type shifter in the Mustang. FWIW....

I agree, its a completely different beast with the TC/AS off. The traction control is WAY to conservative. But I do leave it on in the rain.

"sport mode" might be a good compromise

Another thing people should know is that on wide open blast or racing, you should also shut off overdrive, im not sure with new autos, but its common to be the first thing people destroy..
Love my shifter

Just sayin' gay folks enjoy a good manual shifter as much as non-gay folks (speaking for myself, of course and I've owned many manual transmission Mustangs and diesel pickup trucks).

Tried sports mode a few times in the rain. Its fun till you are part way through a long turn and get a little early on the gas and it downshifts!

I know. My comment was directed at RedCandy5.0 who hoisted the rainbow flag ;-)

Agreed re the manual ...it's more fun ...unless you do a lot of stop-n-go driving then I'd have to agree to disagree.

RedCandy5.0 - Don't let Adam discourage you ... The new 6-speed automatic has its detractors for sure. But for those that do have automatics or are considering getting one, the info you post is appreciated and useful.

Btw, Evolution Performance has a new Grabber Blue automatic 5.0 that they've begun dyno testing. Will be interesting to see what they do with the car.

The funny thing is the auto will beat the manuel 98% of the time because the big mouth manuel drivers can not drive worth a dump. Yet they still talk crap while running 14-15's.
