When to do first Oil Change?

When should I get my oil changed for the first time?

When I bought my '13 Mustang, the dealership said to just wait until the first regular interval, which they now state is 5,000 mi (synth blend).

So, what's the board's opinion?

WTF! Now if I don't edit my post, I look like a crazy person.

I'm in the same boat. I bought a NEW car and have been waiting patiently for the interval to show up. 3K more miles to go. Congrats on the 13'. I love mine.

On my 2012 V6 purchased new, my dealer said to change oil every 5,000 miles. I wanted my first change at 1,000 miles. My long time & trusted service advisor told me an oil change at 1,000 miles isn’t necessary and will not cause any future warranty concerns. Dealer went ahead and changed mine at 1,000 miles, mainly for peace of mind as my old habits die hard after purchasing 6 new Fords over the past 40 years.

I will do mine when my meter reads 30%. The way it's going that will be around 6-7k miles.

Just had the oil changed on my 2013 at 4793 miles. Since I have the Track Pack I let the Service Manager know and he mentioned I get the Full Synthetic treatment
