When to change engine/trans internals for the 5.0?
2012 5.0 6M 3.73
Just wondering how much the powertrain can take...
I'm going to have LT Headers x pipe and Catbacks with a Steeda tune and CAI.
I read that there might be some cams available soon and the gains are over 50WHP...
1)I get the cams will I need to change any internals?
2) What is an oil seperator? When should I get one?
3) How much power is the stock drive shaft good for? When should I replace it?

Well FR has the 624hp supercharger out and you should be good.
I don't think you will have to change out the internals with just cams, and a full exhaust.
Unless you add a sc it won't be needed.
The Al ds will reduce rotational mass from my knowledge so it is a good investment.
Good luck. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help.

I know Beefcake's engine blew up just north of 500rwhp while at the drag strip. While on the other hand, Evolution performance just clipped off a 9 second 1/4 mile on the stock engine internals.
I think it's still a bit early to say what the reliable limit on the factory internals is going to be. However heads/cams (I haven't heard anything on cams outside of the cam like tunes coming out) and exhaust work should be fine on the stock internals.
It's predominantly detonation and rpm that kill the engines with powdered metal rods. Keep the rpms near factory levels and make sure you're tune is good.

I think read about beefcakes engine. Didn't he figure out that it was an aftermarket part that caused his engine to blow? I read that on the s197 forums... He going after that company.
Brenspeed announced on their facebook page that they are working on cams and I saw them for sale for $1500 LOL.
