Wheels and tire help American muscle

Was wondering if any of the AM guys can help me out with a little situation I have.
So I just received my new 20" amr wheels (love them) and I was hoping to find my own tires turns out I'd like to go with the Mickey Thompson 305/35/20

My question is I know it would've been easier to order them together and have them mounted and balanced. So is there anything I could do now to save the hassle of having to go to a shop and pay to have them mounted and balanced.

Thanks, Nick

Send them back and let it them mount for you. So you don't have to worry about scratches. For some reason, when I ordered my wheels and tires from them last year, they were delivered unmounted. I had them mounted at a local shop and one of the wheels got scratched. AM replaced the scratched wheel, but it was a hassle.

IMO, you are going to have to pay to have the rims shipped back to AM.
If you are lucky they will ship everything back to you free if you buy the tires (and then have them mounted).

I would find a place that does performance car tires regularly.
Make sure they have a newer machine that doesn't have to make contact with the surface of the rim itself and a balancer that also doesn't have a mounting apparatus that clamps directly on the face of the rim.
The place I go to is a few towns away from me but they have the right equipment and they don't mind me standing there watching them do the work and bs'ing with them.

I ALWAYS find out who the tech is that mounts them in advance and offer him $20 as a bonus for being extra careful to not scratch the wheels.
Once he is done and everything is 100% I give him the $20 to put in his own pocket.
Might seem OCD but I have had a few scratched wheels over the years on other cars and it was frustrating.
The $20 goes a long way for the tech's....he is getting paid anyway so the $20 covers his lunch, coffee breaks....whatever but it does seem to work for me as they are extra careful so they can get the $20.
Actually, I just had my Boss LS wheels mounted with new tires in May and when I went to the shop the 2 tech guys remembered me and were arguing over who was doing my wheels to get the $20 bonus. Rims were flawless after everything was done.

Good luck whichever way you go.

Awesome reply! Thanks, I sorta don't want to go through the hassle of sending the wheels back and paying for shipping so I will definitely keep this in mind if I have a shop mount them for me.

Thank you

Definitely.

The cost of shipping and risking damage during multiple shipping doesn't compare to what 2007s197 suggested.

Mounting and balancing at my shop only cost me $20 each. Also if they screw up the balancing they redo it free.

No guarantee the balancing from Am will be perfect the first time. sheeit happens. reduce the complications

You could always return the wheels and once you get refunded buy them again along with the tires.
Having them mounted at a local shop is hit or miss on whether they will mount them with care. I've had good and bad luck.
