Wheels for drag radials?

Guys I wanna purchase two wheels for drag radials for my car. I dont need anything super light or high tech. I was thinking some 18in gt500 wheels. I was wondering what other people were using and what was my best option as far as price/performance.

you know you don't have to go with a 18" wheel on the back, you can use smaller diameter wheels. Even some 15's will work if you modify the sway bar mount.

And I think the general consensus is that the MT's are the stickiest but also wear fastest.

i was prob gonna go with the mt's or the new nitto dr's. I really dont have to worry about wear because they really wont get used that much. I also really didnt wanna use welds or anything because I didnt want to have to modify but thanks.

Don't have to go all the way down to a 15" wheel but you can use 17's and you could use something like a 18" Bullit style like came on the 05-09 for something less expensive than the GT500 wheel.

I run 275/40/17 BFG Drag Radials on 17x8 factory Bullitt wheels. The BFG's dead hook, even with the supercharger. I've seen plenty of people running the new Nitto NT05R's and not hook up well.

There are several reasonable wheel options depending on how you want to approach it. If you want a separate set-up for the track, you can use something like Brian's or even these Jegs Sport Star that are 15x8 (which usually clear our rear brakes without spacers... but sometimes require some minor grinding). I am just getting another set of the '10 GT500 wheels as they are fairly cheap at $137 each along with a used set of NT05Rs I recently bought and will just use them for track days.

The more sidewall you have, the better the drag radial will work. I would stick with 17's or 15's for best sidewall flex.
