2011 Clutch & Transmission Fix Coming

I contacted my Ford Customer Care Rep last night (who has been EXCELLENT through all of this). I gave her a detailed account of everything that has happened so far along with the links to the sticky transmission and clutch threads at allfordmustangs.com. In my email I asked whether I should bring the car in for a third repair attempt or wait until Ford has a proven fix they can roll out. She forwarded all of the info to the Ford Technician on site and the Ford Engineer for the San Francisco Bay area region. The technician's advice was to hold tight and wait for "the engineering fix to be released".

My advice to anyone in the same boat: PM Deysha on the allfordmustangs sticky about the transmission issues, who will put you in touch with a Ford Customer Care Rep and assign a case number.

If you had a fix applied that didn't work or you have a case number and for whatever reason your problem still exists, hold tight.

Since ours is sitting in the garage we haven't experienced any problems yet- so hopefully by the spring time they wil have this all ironed out.

Does this mean I should not buy a 2011? I ask because 2011 is the last year for a Red Candy CS...

I have a Job2 so problem is with all 2011... We'll have to wait and see on the 2012.

All I know is they are trying different fluids and revised parts right now according to my rep. She arranged to have the regional tech meet me with the service advisor at the dealer Wednesday morning because, while I'm getting the grinding, they think on my car this may be the fault of the clutch. Stay Tuned!

Did that guy over at SVT forums get banned from here & why?

This appears to be information we should want to be privy to.

Did Ford really install different oil in the trans than what is now being recommended??

I'll be going through my owners manual to see what oil is recommended.

Seems like some on the SVT forums are seeing some improvements with a different oil.

Any 1 here have any info on this?

Sorry reread the post over at SVT forums & it looks like he was banned from allfordmustangs.

AllFordMustangs banned me, username POS197, reason "troll". I have not persued this because, no one has cared to listen until now. The fluid is not the silver bullet but it may very well be a huge piece of the equation.

Just looking at his username makes me suspect there may be a little more to this story.

Here is what goes through my mind and Im a big Ford supporter. How long have they been putting clutches and manual transmissions in cars? Since 1903 the last I checked. How does this happen? I know manuals are in a severe minority these days but have they forgot how to make them or not done enough testing or what?

I was almost at the point not to think a first year model was not a risk but now Im having second thoughts. The Camaro has been hit with similar problems also. What gives? I guess its safe to hold out for good reason. I dont honestly think Ford knows whats going on right now and that concerns me.

What's interesting is that they are BRUTAL with these cars during testing. If this didn't start appearing until thousands were sold and "in the field" that points to:

1. Assembly line: Wrong pressure plate bolt locktight used, incorrect torque for bolts, incorrect tightening sequence.

2. Vendors: Transmission, clutch assembly, slave/master cylinder, and contaminated or mislabeled clutch hydraulic fluid & transmission fluid.
