Wheel Weights ?

Is it just me or is 28 weights a little to much. My car has a small vibration at 75 to 80 mph and I'm wondering if this could be the cause.
My other 3 wheels have no more than 2 weights.

They could have broken the bead seal and rotated the tire on the rim. It may have helped a little but if it doesn't shake, I wouldn't worry about it. Just looks like the heaviest part of the tire is near the heaviest part of the wheel. It happens.

One of my wheels is counter balanced... Has not been an issue... But still not the correct way to do it...

I hope for you that it's just the wheels/tires, but the vibration could be coming from the driveline.

I've had a vibration in my 2014 since new, was very mild when the car was new, not 4-times worse than when it was new, now at 40k miles.

BTW - I've had 4 different sets of wheels and tires on the car, the vibration never changed remaining present at the exact same speed, mostly between 65-85 mph.

If your problem persists after a rebalance and rotation of tires/wheels, then I would suggest reading up on my thread and getting Ford working on it right away.

The car has 4k miles and I just had the tires rotated and the vibration got a little worse. I had the service manager drive the car and he said it didn't feel like a drive line vibration or a tire issue. He's a Mustang guy and has never seen this issue before.

So what is he going to do for you, Jesse? That sounds like the kind of thing they say when they're planning to stonewall you.

I've known this guy for 7 years and he's been very helpful in the past. He's said he will research the problem and maybe find a cure.

Try swapping it to the rear on the other side. If it's the tire/wheel, the vibration will feel different.

Glad to learn your dealer is working with you, TheReaper. Let me escalate this to the customer service manager for your area as well. PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.

That is a lot of weight, sometimes they don't put the tire and the valve stem on the wheel, in the right position. Might be the tire itself, is defective. Hope you get it sorted, it can be aggravating.

According to 'How Its Made' tv show i watched a few years ago . When a tire is made, it is rotated when finished and a 'red' mark is stamped on the sidewall at the 'heaviest' point of the tire. This 'red' mark should be installed on or near the 'lightest' (valve stem hole) area of the wheel........ Thats what i get from it anyway ..
