Wheel opinion

I’ve always liked these Ford Performance wheels for the 2011/12 GT500.

http://www.cjponyparts.com/ford-raci...014/p/SA199-V/

Until recently these were selling for $425 each plus the cost of the sensors. Now CJ has a set of 4 for $1200 including sensors. Giving it some thought and would have them mounted on a square set of 275/40/19 which would give me the same ride height as my current 245/45/19’s.

Here’s a pic of a black/silver striped Shelby GT ‘vert (same color combo as my 2014 GT ‘vert) with similar looking wheels.

Opinions?

Those are very similar to the American Muscle AMR wheels, the original RTR wheels, SVE Drift wheels, and a whole bunch others.
Look around, these others are available in many other sizes/widths/offsets, and prices.

I agree Gabe, but I'm hung up on keeping as many swapped parts as possible Ford OEM. Currently I'm running 2012 Boss 302S wheels on stock tires. Dumb reason I know, but the price for the GT500 wheels is attractive, and I always loved them on Darren's DIB 'vert before he switched to the chrome Mambos.

I guess the opinion I'm looking for is the Ford Performance wheels look against a black S197 w/silver stripes like mine.

Appreciate your input though.

I would expect the quality of the Ford wheels to be quite a bit better than the cheap knock-offs.

$1,200 with TPMS sensors is a good price; though you could probably get take-offs with tires for about that much if you are patient.

My opinion: 9" is a little narrow for 275 tires. If you really want 275 tires, get wheels that are 9.5" or better yet 10" wide. For the 9" wheel, 255 is a better match. Check tire rack for the tire specs; look up recommended wheel width, and stay with the "measuring width" or wider wheel.

my thoughts - wheels are just "okay". Common theme. But if you like it, go for it.

Ouch

I'm currently running the FR PP rims in 19x9 and 19x10 on my 07. They are heavy but definitely a nice piece.

Also have a set of the American muscle rims in the same size, sitting in the garage and there is no comparison to the FR's in the finish and quality department

I'll allow it if you paint your brake calipers black

Yeah, I should get around to doing that. I don't have Brembos so my brakes are itty bitty things in comparison, and they might not show up well behind the lace-type pattern of the FR500's. But black would be the way to go. Red is overdone. Black would be more subtle.

Black is cool because it just blends in. Then if you really want to add a little bling, you can do some slotted rotors

I think the Ford wheels would look great on your black beauty Tom. As Z says, they may be common, but I think there's a reason for that. They're very sharp looking wheels.

I'll give you one tip that you might not have considered. They are a royal pain in the pecker to clean, and dry. Other than that I loved the look of them on mine.

Centric ceramic pads would take care of that

Yeah, gave that thought too. But being retired gives me lots of time, and I actually enjoy detailing my car, especially wheels and tires, so I don't view it as a chore. I really like the wheels so that's my incentive.

Gonna give it more thought in the next few days. If I pull the trigger I won't get them mounted on new tires until mid summer due to some logistics here that are too complicated to discuss. But I do want to take advantage of a really great price.

I can show you how they look on black with red and small silver stripes if you're interested. The silver is small, but it does give you some idea of what they'd look like on yours.

They're not going to be anywhere near as "silver" as your stripes or the wheels on the SGT you posted above. In fact, mine always looked darker in person that they do in pics, so keep that in mind too. Of course mine were the factory ones that came with the SVT Performance Package. Never seen the FRPP ones in person, so I can't comment on how close the color is to the factory ones. Also, my rears are 20's so keep that in mind as well.

These probably show them the best compared to the silver in the stripe...

Edit. Stupid site won't let me post pics right now. I'll try again in a little bit.

Got the pics...thanks. I manipulated them a bit by 'removing' the rocker stripe and cropping it at the belt so that the roof lines don't throw me off (I have a 'vert) and the edits give me a good idea of what to expect on mine.

Still sleeping on it to make sure these are what I want.

Again, thank you.

I've got a ton of various other angles and such if there is anything specific you want let me know and I'll see what I've got.
