Didn't buy any of my stangs for mpg. I get upwards to 26mpg on the interstate and about 17 in the city. Ave for mixed is 18-20 and I do a lot of spirited driving. Car has 3.73 gears too

Because Will has had more problems than any other Mustang owner I think there is - look at the list of threads he's started. Whether his car is just terrible or he likes to complain, I'm not sure, but if I had all the problems he's had, I would have dumped the car long ago.

I'm out in Nassau county. Most of my driving is around town cruising about. I love to hear my exhaust so it gets the rev before taking off and the RPMs up around 3000 quite often. I can't stand coasting in this car with no sound. Without even really spooling it out I'm still in the 11-13MPG range on the gauge cluster. I also have 3.73s
Also, I highly doubt manufacturers test "city" MPG in areas like NYC and other big cities. In sure there's a definition of "city" out there that they have to follow. Probably something along the lines of a traffic light every 1/2 mile or so, not every 50 feet lol. Same goes with highway testing.
I'm just glad I didn't have to pay the gas guzzler tax cause I probably wouldn't be driving one if I did.

well they're legitimate complaints. I had my squeaky control arms swapped out 3 times by the dealer, rattles in the door panel, squeaky driver seat cause of the loose mount, how would you feel if you had all these problems? I mean they're just minor problems i know but annoying

85% city yeah, I try not to rev it past 3k rpm I can't imagine what my mpg will look like if I did. After 3k rpm in 2nd gear is amazing in terms of acceleration and for the most part I love this car. I just think...the mpg is extremely low even if I stay below 3k rpm in the city. Would you recommend I try skip shifting? like 1 to 3, or like 2 to 4.

Its simply poor driving.. you have no need to rev the car to 3k rpm while in normal city driving. Try a gear per 10 mph. So when you are doing 30 you should be in 3rd gear or 4th. The car makes alot of its power in the mid range and it takes gas to make that power. its more then basic.. gas = power. What the mpg I see drive better. BTW its not a honda. Sounds like you should of got the V6.
Not trying to be mean.. but really? You wouldnt be seeing better mpg with a sti or evo or something like that. Why would you expect poor driving habits and a big V8 to turun out differently?

I live in New york city Queens and I get 13mpg on average. Just last night I put $20 89 octane gas into my mustang, went to the city, when I got back the gas light was on once again. I have the 2012 GT and it's suppose to get 17 in the city and 26 on the highway, this isn't the case. What do you guys think about mpg with this car?

Large engines use fuel, and when you idle for extended periods of time, or are in stop-n-go traffic for a good majority of the time w/o being able to really cruise along at city speeds (30-45mph) then your economy is going to suck. An automatic may have been a slightly better for fuel economy in heavy traffic since it shifts so quickly at low rpms for better economy.
Turns out your 13mpg is pretty close to what Ford stated all along. I am frankly surprised that your surprised at your economy. Are you just trying to
....Answer this for me. If I fill my tank, drive 50-miles down the highway, average 25mpg, then exit and allow my car to idle for 10-minutes at a fast food drive-thru with the AC on, then notice that my mpg dropped to 20mpg, should I complain?
Or how about I fill up with gas, drive 25-miles to the drag strip, average 25mpg on the drive, but while at drag strip during my 5-6 quarter mile runs at WOT my average mpg drops to 8mpg, should I complain?
Look up Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson, BMW M3 vs Toyota Prius, you might be enlightened.

Sorry, but you are wrong. The 2012 5.0 Manual Trans window sticker did have 17mpg as the large number, but it also clearly stated right below, 14-20 mpg expected for most drivers, in plain sight on the sticker, and on the web for all to see.
The V6 says 19mpg, with 15-23mpg expected for most drivers.
