It is rough, lol! Actually got 250+ miles out of a tank a couple weeks ago when I drove down to Lake Constance on the Swiss border. Autobahn and town driving. And a bit of 140 mph with a VW SUV along the way!

I can't imagine how you'd have to drive to get 13 unless there's something wrong with the car. The first week I had my 3.73 car, I floored it every chance I got and ran it way faster on the road than I normally would. The worst I got was 16.1. The second tank was 17s. Third was 20.7 with more highway time.

I've never seen over about 23 interstate trips, but on a 3.73 car, I think you have to slow down below 70 to get over low 20s.

I've never seen 18.....and for the first 3 months I had this car it was in South Carolina and Georgia before shipping it to Germany.....Boss 1409......I have a HARD time beliieving 20 when you had some 120 runs in there......I'm going to Stuttgart thursday.....I have no expectations of getting close to 20 mpg.....

On another note...do you know any good Mustang mechanics around Ramstein/Landstuhl area.....got a MGW shifter in my office and want to do some performance work as well.....don't trust myself to do it though.....

The car drives very well at that speed! Not sure of any places around there, but I know there is a place here in Stuttgart. http://www.schropp-fahrzeugtechnik.de/
Planning on getting a MGW shifter in the next couple months, have some friends that do a lot of work on Mustangs.

Not a problem. The drive is pretty easy. Might be better to take A6 to A81, there is some construction on A5 and A8 which can really back up traffic, depending on when you are driving down.

The shop is just down the street from Panzer, pretty easy to find. Might stop in this week, would like to get the Boss on the dyno.

I know there is a place that does them, can't remember the name. My friend did swap out for a KB in his '04 Cobra before he got here though. Might be some good info on mightymustangs.net, they are more local. I'm not on there all that much though, maybe when I get back to Ramstein.

I think one good reason to check mileage every so often is a way to check that your tune/ECU/engine is still running at top efficiency.
When I'm out having fun its gonna get whatever it gets. But occassionally trying for top highway mileage is a good indicator.
Getting 27 mpg highway yesterday (after 5 mos storage) confirms that my engine is running just as well as it did 4 yrs ago summer of 08 when I got 27 on cruise on flat highway with only about 5k on the clock.

Will, why do you still have this car? It seems like it brings you nothing but problems and irritations and you live in one of the worst cities in the country to own a car in.

The EPA's mileage estimates are correct but, unfortunately, the city testing they do does not accurately reflect the amount of traffic in NYC, nor the way you drive, what accessories you have running, your tire pressure, etc. As cdynaco said, the newer version of the EPA test is pretty accurate and that's been my experience in multiple cars, including my '11 GT.

Jeez, give the OP a break, he's just asking others about their MPG and experience. No need to jump on him like that.

Because Will has had more problems than any other Mustang owner I think there is - look at the list of threads he's started. Whether his car is just terrible or he likes to complain, I'm not sure, but if I had all the problems he's had, I would have dumped the car long ago.

I just looked at some of his other threads...I think you may have something there, Kyle!
