What color to powdercoat my Steeda CAI?

I'm putting my order in Monday for the CAI, and ever since I saw Modshack's PC'ed heat shield that got me thinking about doing something similar.

Right now, the general idea I have for the intake is to do the MAF housing a satin black finish, then have the heat shield done in Kona blue. I'm also going to swap the clamps for a set of Sure stealth clamps (here) and keep it looking a little more low-key.

I'm not 100% sold on the color choices, mainly because I haven't found a PC place that has a close match to Kona. I can see this being a challenge, but I haven't looked yet (I will on Mon). What other color options might work, and what do you think of my rough idea?

I agree with your choices. If you can't find a close blue, I'd have it done in a crinkle silver to match the intake manifold.

I never thought of that, but it would be another cool idea. I also thought about doing a similar color to the strut bar to tie that in more.

Steve, I wish you were closer. I'd just have you do it.

I have a satin silver which is almost a dead ringer to the Strut bar! I can even PC the clamps to match.
The one I'm doing is coming in by mail, 2 day turnaround and back off to him so distance is not an issue...Email me for details!

One other thing - what size clamps do I need for that CAI? I'd like to get those on order before I get the intake.

Canada gets pricey....8 lb box via express mail is about $55-60 from here to you..Priority mail about $35-40 (both avoid Tariffs and Duties it seems from my experience)

I'm thinking now it might be easier to just paint the shield to match the car. Seems like several local shops can't find a color to match it to.

Sounds good. How bout having them paint the coil covers and intake manifold runners the same to match? Would look real sharp I think...

No problem...If you want an EXACT match, that's the way to go..

I saw another member on here with Kona coil covers and I thought it was a bit much. I like the satin finish of most engine bay parts.

Steve, I still am definitely interested in the MAF housing. I found out a friend of mine recently started at a coating shop locally, so he was looking into it for me, and found nothing. I don't know what a paint quote would be for that shield might be though.

No problem...Those pics I PM'd you on were RAL colors from Columbia coatings. Add a little flake to a clear overcoat or to the base coat and it should be pretty close.

Any good painter should be able to handle the MAF tube too...Just a different prep coat for the aluminum...
