My 14 shifts much better than any 12 or 13 that i test drove.
It feels like they changed something in 14.
I have had no lock out problems with going into 3rd, and I have ran the car hard at the track!
I just want shorter throws, less rubbery feel and a different shifter handle!

I have the Ford a Racing shifter, 2-post Bracket, Ford Racing Shift Ball and couldn't be happier. This complete kit can be had here for around $420.00.

I've traditionally been a Hurst fan, but just ordered an MGW for my Boss.

Just curious, but I have to rehash this question one more time. I plan to replace the shifter in my 2014 with the MGW. With the stock shifter the MT82 certainly doesn't like engaging any gear when it's cold. Will the MGW improve this issue or does it still require the oil to warm up a bit before things smooth out ?

I feel the same way! My WRX had a aftermarket shifter with stiffer bushings and my mustang is world's better in its stock configuration. I even love the shift ****!

MGW still be notchy until the fluid warms up.

This thread might stretch to 3-4 pages, and if you compare it to the dozens of other 'which shifter' threads, it will probably be 80+ % MGW, and the remainder being Barton, Steeda, Hurst, etc.

You should be able to put a Hurst T handle on top of the MGW shifter if that's the look you want... But the classic black Boss 302 style **** just feels perfect.

Thanks Kyle. Another one of the most commonly asked questions here. Answers don't waiver.

For the same reason why people upgrade their stock exhausts. Not broke right? Stock works. But why change to a borla, corsa, or gt500 for that matter? Why? Easy... "Improvement".

I used to have that problem until I figured out that I don't have to push up and over with the shifter, just push straight up. Let the centering springs in the shifter guide it. Don't know if that will help you or not but it's worth mentioning.

Mgw here and I highly recommend it. Does it cure all mt82 woes? No, however it is a big improvement. Lots of threads recommending it.

I have the Barton shifting bracket and I changed the stock shift **** to the chrome one American Muscle sells. The shifting bracket really tightened up the shifting quite a bit. Can't really remember how the stock bracket too much besides it was much looser and I remember missing a lot of gears.

I have a question regarding the MGW shifter:

I had one put in our '08 GT/CS and while as a shift I loved it, I absolutely couldn't stand all the noise and clatter (is that even a word) that I could hear in the car once it was installed. I went as far as to stuff piece of foam couch cushion under the shift boot just to try to absorb some of the noise. Are the latest MGWs any better at suppressing the noise and stuff, or is the nature of the beast and I'd just have to deal with it?

Are all the issues people are having only on some gearboxes? Mine seems to operate just fine...maybe it's just because this is the only manual I've ever driven...but I've never been locked out (even at high speeds/rpms) and it seems to shift fairly nice. Could be a little less "soft" but I don't really see the issues...

Do I just have a good gearbox/shifter?

Thanks Rich. I'll know exactly what to expect when I make the change to MGW.

Haha fair

In that same vain though, one could argue that the stock shifter is "broke"… Because its shifts are not smooth or crisp enough and a little bit too sloppy.

You want sloppy shifts....my VW van from the early 70's....you just kind of moved it where you thought it should go and hoped you guessed right...plus the throw seemed like 2 feet or more....
