What 6 speed shifter are you using?

The factory 6 speed shifter is a POS.

I'm thinking about replacing it with the Hurst because the Hurst is classic and has the flat chrome stick, but also thinking about the MGW MT-82 because I like the reverse detent and I'm thinking it might be the best shifter available.

What are you folks using?

Use the search function and you'll find tons of talk about this. For a full replacement, not just the bracket, MGW is the overwhelming favorite on this forum,

MGW. I just got it installed a couple weeks ago and love it. Great shifter.

I'm thinking about getting the Ford Motorsport shifter!
It's basically a Barton shifter, but i just like staying with motorsports related parts!

I use the Hurst Billet plus 2 or whatever they call it. I absolutely love it. Much improved over stock. And it looks great.

Got the MGW, set it to the shortest throw and I like it over the stock Shelby shifter.

Not trying to be a pain but why would you pay twice as much just because Ford anodized it blue and stamped a Ford logo on it? Just saying.

I have the Barton.

This is the second stang that I have installed an MGW. Such a huge improvement over stock and shifts better than any shifter I have used in the past.

I have the Barton.
It's a $100 bucks more not twice as much, and I like the way it looks (even if I don't see it all) and I like the shifter handle (ford racing cue ball)!

I'm willing to bet you spent $100 on some part for your car that you could have found cheaper but you just wanted what you wanted!

I watched the install video of the MGW shifter and it looks like a high quality part! I like the looks of the Hurst stick though. I wonder if you could bolt a Hurst stick to the MGW?

My factory shifter locks up going into 3rd often. I have to pull it into neutral, wiggle the stick, and then I can find 3rd gear.

That was my main problem, particularly at high rpms. I'd wring out second only to slam into a wall going for third. Took it to the dealership and they told me my transmission was fine and that I was driving it too hard. I couldn't believe it! MGW totally resolved the issue.

Maybe it is just me, but compared to some of the shifters I have had over the years (been driving since 1974), the one in my 14 GT is great...not saying these others are not better, but if it's not broke why fix it?

From what i hear, not many drivers are having the same problems with their 14's....opposed to the previous MYs. But coming from a 13' owner, the mgw shifter helped my shifting problems alot.
