What is this for?

The light in between the high beam and seatbelt indicator. Can't find it in the manual. Looks like a car going down a hill with a line through it.

Hill holder(guess that's what it's called) activated would be my guess. If you have a manual transmission it holds the brake for a second or so while you transition your foot from the brake pedal to the clutch if you are on an incline.

Grade Assist. Page 222 in the 2012 owners manual.

Locks out overdrive in the automatic tranny when decending hills to increase engine braking.

Ahhh, no wonder I can't turn it on, mines standard

I did try the hill assist to see if that lit it up but it didn't, I was pretty sure that was it too.

Thanks for the help Scott.

That's the "FUN" button for the automatics.

I do wish they had this when I was trying to teach the Wifey to drive a manual. But alas, no.

Yeah this doesn't turn on for the manual transmissions at all. In order for hill start assist to engage, you have to be in gear before you release the clutch. Then it holds the car still for approximately 2 secs for you.

I had hill assist on my manual trans Challenger. Gawd I hated that thing. I'd say to Ford, "please, DON'T help me" but my 2012 Mustang doesn't have hill assist.

My 2011 has it. Only the automatic cars have it and it's not available on the M6.

Ok so this is no the kind of hill assist that helps manual owners on a incline.

Huh? My left foot is for clutch only. Gas and brake only with the right. Am I wrong?

Yup. My light came on 13 years ago. Waiting for the bulb to burn out.

??????

Yes there is - You hold the hand brake (emergency brake if you like) and as you apply a little power and release the clutch you also let down on the hand brake and bingo you move up the hill without rolling backwards.
