Videos of Roush Catback System
Videos of Roush Catback System
As mention previously in another thread, I just had installed the Roush catback system on my GT and I am finding the drone very bothersome to me. Probably because I must have a hearing problem. But anyway the drone is bad at 2000 rpm. At idle it is fine and like at 60 mph at 1500 rpm it is fine. But driving around 40 I am topicly around 2000.
I have made 3 videos of the Mustang. The first is when the Mustang was stock exhaust and I compared it to my Z28. The second video is the Roush installed from outside in the driveway. The third one is me driving around a little at various speeds and rpms. If Youtube didn't totaly compress and distort the video (it was long), you can plainly hear the drone at various times. At idle, downshifting, flooring it, the Roush sounds great. Its the steady state sound that is effecting my ears.

It's definitely an awesome exhaust set-up. Yeah, you can hear the drone at 2k rpms as you described. It may be a bit much for me... shifting around it may help, buy annoying nonetheless. One of the best overall exhaust videos that I've seen/heard. Good job
Thanks!
I got a 150 watt amp with floor standing speakers connected to my sound card in my PC. Listening to the original version from the digital camcorder was like being inside the car.
You really have to crank the volume up to apperciate the sound 8-)

Why can't they make an aggressive exhaust that doesn't drone/resonate at 2000 RPM? Mine sounds great everywhere except where I settle in and cruse at either 50mph in a 45 or 60-65mph on a 55. Annoying.
You guys are crazy with all this drone talk. Its a muscle car and you guys are putting exhaust systems on them. Its gonna be loud and anything that is loud is very likely gonna have some drone. You really cant get the best of both worlds. You think the drone is bad in these cars try putting an exhaust on a 4cyl motor lol. Maybe thats why i dont mind or even notice it. I came from a 07 GTI with some bolt ons and i was running a 3" turboback exhaust. I had no cat and no muffler only a resonator. You guys wouldnt last 10minutes in my Gti lol. It sure was fast though. I ran a 13.0@109 in the 1/4 with just a few bolt ons. Also for the guys that are turning there heads to the roush system because of hearing a video of it. Most video cameras are going to amplify alot of background noise which drone would be one of them. Please i hope nobody takes this the wrong way. I am a ball buster and just throwing my .02 out there. If anyone is near delaware and would like to meet up sometime i would be glad to take anyone for a ride to hear how it sounds.

When I talked to Roush they said it is the nature of the 2010 Mustang. He said it is better than the 09 because they moved the resonators to under the car in the middle as opposed to under the trunk which resonated with the trunk cavity. I have a big piece of sound deading form and I stuck it in the trunk to se if it helped. It didn't.

I have to disagree with you. My Z28 Camaro has headers and resonators only, no cat, and it doesn't drone at all. It is loud when you step on it and not quite at idle but has no drone. I don't mind having a loud exhuast. It sounds so cool when you down shift and it pops or going in a tunnel or next to a large wall. Everyone looks. Sounds nice. But what I am trying to fix is the ringing in my ears that the drone causes. Other systems drone too, like the Flowmasters so I have read but I bet their drone is not as bad as the Roush.
