V-6 - 87 vs. 93 octane
For those who missed the 2011 V-6 c.a.i. dyno test video done by American Muscle posted in the V-6 Modification section of the Forum. They did a dyno test between 87 octane and 93 octane, with no modifications. 93 octane gas added 7 wheel horsepower, mostly above 4500 r.p.m.
Oh no, can't possibly be. I know this because it was posted on here. The V6 cars don't get more power from 93 octane over 87 like the GT...
Sounds like the easiest power mod to me.
Is it worth 20-25 or so extra cents per gallon?
Guess it would be great for track days.

What is strange is whats said in the owners manual. 5.0L, 91 octane or higher for best overall performance. The 3.5L (Taurus), for best overall performance, 91 octane or higher will provide improved performance. The owners manual for the MKS 3.7L says, your vehicle will run normally on 87 octane regular fuel. Premium fuel will provide improved performance.
Nothing saying anything about a performance gain for the 2011 3.7L Mustang by using higher octane gas. Why? I don't know. With this dyno test, we now know for sure, higher octane will add some horsepower. Thank you American Muscle!!! for doing this test
