Usually I love driving my 5.0, but......
I've always loved mustangs! Very little gives me more pleasure than getting in my kona blue beast and opening her up. Today, however it's a little less fun. Because yesterday i was able to track a Ferrari f430 and a Porsche Cayman.
I went to Exotic Racing in Las Vegas and payed a very reasonable price to do 7 laps in the Porsche and 5 in the Ferrari. It gave me a greatly enhanced appreciation for what racers have to do. If you get the chance....money well spent. 20 minutes classroom (clearly not enough) and then laps with an instructor (GREAT GUYS). I didn't do the video, but will be back. It gives you just a little glimpse of how little most of us or at least Iknow about driving.
The only problem was on the way home I was trying to hit the brake late and hit the apex in the wife's 2013 Edge Limited.

I know there are other companies doing the same thing and I'll assume they are doing it well. Exotic Racing was completely professional and welcoming. Great staff great cars. They get two thumbs up from me....

Looks like a blast. I'll have to add that to my list of things to do! Have you done or thought about doing the Mojave Mile, or Silver State classic challenge? Those are out your way. I'd like to try those sometime, but they are a long way about a 3 day drive.

I had not considered either, but it does sound fun. Clearly training and track time would be a benefit. Mad respect for people who have been at this long enough to have become instinctive. I tell my fighters that they need at least 100 rounds of sparring to just get a hint of what their potential is. At around 250 rounds, if you have potential, you might no longer suck. That pretty much sums up my view of my 12 laps.

Very cool. Sounds like a great time. Keep in mind that you can always sign up for a track day in your own car. Cost is usually under $200 and you get 2+ hours of seat time, some of that with an instructor riding with you. Plus, you start to learn the limits of your own car. Not knocking the exotic car experience at all - I can imagine how awesome that would be. Just consider some HPDE days - you won't regret it!

Everybody should get the chance to drive an exotic sometime! I'm lucky enough to have an uncle that owns a 2001 Ferrari 360 Modena and likes nothing better than having fun with it, with me. I've driven the car for over an hour at Road America, which was one of the most fun times in my life. And this pic is he and I crossing the Wisconsin River on the Merrimac Ferry with my car and the Ferrari. We traded cars soon after and he took off in my car, amazed at the power (Ferrari has 400 HP and less weight but the Mustang holds its own ) and I had to go about 95 just to catch up. Good times

how fast did they let you go on the track Eric? I heard they won't let you go over 100mph.
We are going to Vegas in June and I was thinking about doing this with my son as a college grad present for him

The Mojave Mile and Silver State Classic are both on my list of things to do in the Shelby. I'll want to go as fast as they let me which will require experience/classes. I'm looking forward to it, especially going 90 miles in about 30 minutes. Hm...wonder if I'll need a bigger gas tank...
