Undertray

On my 13 gt on the undertray it has the 2 inch vertical rubber flap.

What is the purpose of this as I'm thinking about cutting it off as it is an eyesore.

I think it's an air deflector. Probably increases your gas mileage or something like that.

I thought it was for going through bumps and preventing scuffs.
