Is it true driving at WOT once in awhile is good for the engine?
I have a 2012 mustang stick with 6000 miles on it. I recently just changed the engine oil to mobil 1 with the stock filter. I was wondering....is it true that it's good for the engine to be driven at WOT once in lets say a week. I rarely red line and drive at WOT so I was wondering if I should once in awhile. Anyone know?

I've always heard something along those lines, but the thinking was that you needed to rev the engine to blow out some carbon build-up on the valves.
With modern oil and fuel additives, the internal will stay relatively clean as long as you change your oil as recommended, along with other regular maintenance.
As for driving at W.O.T., the only need do that to make yourself feel better.

Hey Will3212.....you should maintain an rpm of below 3000 when driving.....this will keep odd noises from interfering with the drive.....lol
No, really, I find my car loves 3000+ rpm for shifting and if I don't do some W.O.T. runs during each drive, I feel I have neglected the drive train. I also try to be sideways with it at least once daily.
