Trouble with second gear

Every other gear shifts very smooth but 2nd. It's shifts smooth into 2nd gear when

A. Taking first gear to over 3k RPMs then shifting into 2nd.

B. Riding the clutch in first(not letting the clutch pedal get fully released) under 3k RPMs then shifting into 2nd.

So basically 90% of the time I shift normally from first to second under 3k RPMs its a rough feeling shift and kinda sounds like it jams into place. It's noticeably louder then the others gears when this happens. BTW the 1-4 shift symbol does not pop up in dash when these rough shifts occur.

I am taking in to the dealer for an oil change in the next 2 weeks I'm gunna have them look at it while it's there.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I started having a problem on the 4th to 3rd downshift with my '10 GT. It wouldn't want to go into gear unless I shifted really slowly and had the clutch to the floor. My car has been at the dealer since January 27th. It took them 9 days just to remove the transmission. On Friday (Feb 4th) they said they were ordering all new synchros and some kind of gear stops. Probably won't have my car back until February 14th. Minimum of 19 days at the dealer for this.

My service rep had the nerve to tell me that I need to fill out the Ford survey as "Completely Satisfied". Yes, he told me. It was almost a threat, and I don't even have my car back yet. Unbelievable.

I have skip shift tuned out and I still get a notchy shift from 1 to 2 every once in a while. One thing that helps my car is when making that 1 -> 2 shift I make sure my hand is on the right side of the **** and I am pulling it ever so slightly towards me while also pulling it back. The notchiness may be the shifter hitting the gate slighly, IDK. But pulling it on a slight diagonal seems to fix it and I get 100% smooth shifts. Give it a try

Also, I know some people have had actual gear grinding. IDK if you have had that, but I have not had any. Just a notchiness. If I had grinding I would take it in immediately.

Yea I'd say it's more notch then grinding. I do valet at a casino and drove a 5.0 with double the miles mine has and I could not replicate the shifts I am getting on my car. It shifted smooth as butter everytime unit second. I guess I gotta have the pros look at it soon to see if there is anything actually wrong with it.

I've been down that road. I hope you got in his face and made a scene....hopefully in front of other customers. Remember, it's your property.

It was over the phone. I don't want to ruffle any feathers until my car is fixed.

Good idea.

Get your car back first, THEN slam them

My car has been in storage since nov and has only has 3000 miles on it and it was getting a little notchy from 2nd to 3rd when it comes out of the stable im going to the dealer so they can add me to the list.

this technique works, i tried it today

my car only has 345 miles on it so it would not seem to be well broken in yet, it would shift 1-2 great if accelerating hard but would feel notchy just putting around.
i intentionally put pressure to the left on the 1-2 shift today and it eliminated the 2-3 "bumps" i usually feel and have to push past.

other than the 1-2 shift i don't experience any grinding on any up or downshift. i don't have a tune and get the skipship occasionally.

I read something on a different forum that there have been numerous people with the same problem that surfaces after about 500 miles. Notchy sometimes grinding into second and third gear. Apparently Ford is aware of the problem and have tried using a different gear box lube with limited success. It sounds like a syncro problem but they don't have a fix yet. They have apparently replaced some transmissions on some cars.
