Brian,
I think you will be surprised (unless you really want to overcome a "perceived" power deficit) how little you might feel the need to modify the stock set-up, especially when compared to the 2005-09 models.
Assuming you daily drive it and then occasionally wing it down a 1/4 mile track for periodic enjoyment, the base suspension settings in the 2010 GTs were a very good starting point. I know that more aggressive straightline or cornering situations are going to demand more, especially if you are very experienced. However, I really believe Ford did an excellent job in damping the car better and you can feel that on the street.
Between what was done for the '10-'11 engine change, along with your Brembo package tire upgrade, I would wager the stock wheel will be noticably improved, especially if you can remember your base '07 GT from long ago
My comments are based on my 2010 GT experience extrapolated to 2011, as I have not driven the new 5.0 GT.
Of course, one could also improve things, but as a starting point, I really have been extremely happy with the stock set-up. Maybe I am getting older
but I really haven't needed to make changes, based on the way I am driving it.

Brian congrats on the new 5.0 you will love it. I had a Whippled I/C 07 and the new 5.0 is just as fast with very little money into it. Plus you have a full warranty on the new car. Good luck with everything.
I'm gonna keep the mods to a minimum - likely just a handheld tuner and perhaps a few billett aluminum interior pieces to brighten up the 300A interior a bit. The new 5.0L is plenty of car just the way it is, which makes me feel a lot better about trading in my supercharged '07 GT.
Change it out with an ’09 Bullitt or GT500 one (reuse the '11 cruise buttons), it makes a huge difference.
Congrats on your decision
Can't go wrong with the 5.0

Thanks! I'll be glad to have a full warranty again. My '07 was bulletproof - probably the best quality car I've ever owned in my life.

The '11 GT will be the 4th Mustang I've owned with a cloth interior (2 with leather and 1 with vinyl), and the new cloth seats look good and weigh a lot less than the heated/power leather seats in my '07 GT (54 lbs each!).
I gotta wonder how light my '11 GT will be compared to a well-optioned '11 GT Premium?

Yeah the '09 premium wheel is good too, the leather is a slightly lesser grade though.
6-speed Base GT w Brembos & 3.73's is definitely the best choice
, lightest & fastest of the GT's,
You'll prob have more fun with it than your supercharged '07.

You are absolutely right. It's gonna handle better than my '07, stop as good as my '07, and will be just a little slower than my '07 (for now).

My '11 GT was unloaded from the train today, so it just needs to be loaded onto a truck for delivery to our dealership on Monday. Hoping to bring it home on Monday (if possible), or Wednesday after I get off work. It might snow in the next few days, so that may complicate things a bit.

When mine was delivered to the Dealer there was so much snow I had to rent a garage down in the valley for 90 days before I could bring it home.
For 3 months I had to take an hour drive in my 4x so I could go for a drive.

Worth it.

i think your making wrong choice...
-can you afford payments on new car plus whatever other depts you owe (house/school for kids ect ect)..if one of you where to get layed off? if your stocks turn to losses? ect ect
-how long will the 10g last if above happens...then you would be forced to sell new mustang at even a greater loss
...i would sell your 07 mustang and put most of that money towards paying off any depts you owe...i can understand your love of mustangs...so im not gonna say buy a used civic/corolla (even if that best return on $)...maybe a nice used V6 05/06 stang
be carefull, dont get in over your head...best of luck
