I'm glad I have a front wheel drive car and two 4x4 trucks to drive when we get that type of weather. My Mustang is a fair weather driver only. I did see a few mustangs driving around in the fairly large amount of snow we got the last time and they seemed to be doing okay.

Here's a cool story, bros....

I drove my BBP 12 through 2 winters, both with snow days, on the BBP summer Pirellis. When a couple feet sat on the road, I walked to work for 2 days, that was it, until road services caught up.

Then, this year with the Pirellis showing bars, I popped a right rear in a parking lot miscalculation. All I had around was my drag wheels and bias slicks. So, on those went and bingo, it starts to snow...of course. So, I drove for a week in the shyt on drag tires, until I could get the Michelin Pilot Sport AS3s I wanted in locally.

Can this car do it, yeah, no problem, anywhere, anytime, just use some winter driving common sense and it should be no issue.

Last week I drove in heavy sleet and light snow with Conti Extreme DW summer tires and it was not a pleasant experience.

The quad-tipped rear valance from the GT500 also acts as a sled. Check it out, I didn't shovel a single flake. Just removed the snow on the car and plowed/sled right out and then blew the snow out of my exhaust tips as if to say "I smite thee!".

Lol, nice figit! And I'm guessing these are not snow tire on your Brembo wheels?

Actually they are 245/40R-19 bridgestone blizzaks and I've got 150lbs of sand in the back. I decided to relegate my TP wheels into a dedicated winter wheel/tire combo. At over 30lbs a pop, and with such a conservative width, IMO they aren't ideal track wheels. Forgestars are coming in the spring hehe.

Too funny. I'm going to do the same with those wheels when I get replacements.

I have a Brembo Brake 2013 Gt with blizzaks on all 4 wheels. Needless to say I bought a Ford Ranger Fx4 to get me around in the winter (along with hunting/fishing trips). The mustang is a capable car and will do fine in the winter with a set blizzaks. However, it is not ideal nor is it very confidence inspiring and that means a lot in the winter.

I like it.

My '14 TP stays in the garage over the winter. But I've decided when the 255 Pirellis wear out (which should be right around 8k miles since they've seen ~200 track miles last year ) I'll be putting 245/45-19 all seasons on the Brembo wheels. I'll also be getting a designated set of track wheels/tires, and I think I'll go with 9.5x19 GT500 style wheels wearing 275/40-19s.

The summer only Pirellis were a joke in the 30 degree November weather.

So why did you bother with $1,000 snow tires then?

My plan was to drive the mustang through winter. However, I just started a job managing snow plow truck drivers at my state's DOT. It has made me take my mustang out in the worst of worst conditions. Like I said in my other post the mustang isn't an ideal snow vehicle. I decided to purchase a Ford Ranger here a few weeks ago to get me around for the rest of winter.

Figured that'd be your answer but wanted to check!

First of all, as nearly everyone else has said- Track Pack rocks and is one of my favorite options.

That said, it snowed 1/2" here in Dallas yesterday... I'm originally from Pennsylvania, and have driven rear wheel vehicles in all kinds of snow and ice, but holy crap my '14 GT with Track Pack handles like an absolute greased pig! Traffic was crawling along, and- if I was on even the slightest upgrade- it was virtually impossible to get moving. (Oddly enough, you have to DIS-able traction control to get going... finally found that 3rd gear with traction disabled allows you to get things moving- with traction control it just sits there and reduces power to nothing.)

I'm pretty sure its due to the "Summer Use Only" tires (thought that was just Ford being dramatic in their description, but these tires plain suck in any kind of snow).

That's exactly what it is. They're not designed to be used in below 45 degree conditions, regardless of snowfall. They get hard as a rock at low temps and the performance borders on dangerous. Summer only designation isn't a joke - it's the truth.

Anyone else notice the frame less doors are a pain in the ***. The windows never wants to drop down when getting in the car.

If you are in extreme cold climates I would put a super light coat of white lithium grease on the door seals so the windows won't stick on them below freezing. I don't know why you would be rolling them down if it were that cold anyway but it's a good tip.

The summer only tires aren't even great summer tires for the money. After changing them out to the PS's I don't think I will ever go back to Pirelli's.

Ah, the freezing temperature making the tires hard makes a lot of sense...

I actually like the performance of the tires on dry and even wet roads... in cold snow and ice they act like they themselves are made of ice (really, I can't describe how crappy these tires are in cold snow- I consider the fact that I could get this car through 38 miles of snowy driving in 18 degree weather without totaling it to be one of my greater driving achievements :^).

Once I wear these puppies out, I'll be putting Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires on (had those on two previous cars and just love em).

There's actually a sticker on the body of the car in the driver's door jamb that says not to drive the car with the summer Pirellis installed if outside temps are below 40 degrees

As far as those DWS's, I'm using them on my car and I absolutely can't say enough good things about them.
Awesome in the snow/dry/wet, a great all-around tire.
They should make them in more sizes.

I have Pirelli Nero "all seasons" on My GT. I keep seeing them referred to as summer tires but often not. Can someone explain if they are the same? I'm confused because Pirelli comes stock on
The GTs now.

And yes I've been driving them in negative temp snow. They blow away the bf Goodrich and Michelin all seasons I had on my traded in 3.7.

Not the same.

This is standard on the Track Pack cars. There is no Pirelli all season available in that size.

This is the OE tire on the standard GT with 18" wheels and on the optional 19" non-Track Pack non-Brembo wheels. It is an all season.
