Times at the track today

These are my times from today. The mods of control arms and the anti-hop kit without a doubt helped with my launches. Much less wheel spin.

Here are the track times. Unfortunately my track is a 1/10th mile, so to compare you'll probably need to stop at the 330 ft to compare to the 1/4 mile.

Best RT: .5449 (right about where I want to be there)
60 ft: 2.0210
330 ft: 5.7861
1/10th: 7.7320 at 74.62 MPH

So, the mods of the control arms, anti-hop kit, going from 3.31 to 3.73 gears and hi-flow X-Pipe and BBK headers increased my 1/10th MPH about 2mph and my ET by about .20. So if you extrapolate that up to a 1/4, I think that's pretty darn impressive. It's probably between 4-5mph and between .40-.50 improvement on ET.

Now, I think those times still can be improved. I have Nitto's but I'm not heating them up at all because I don't want to break stuff...lol. So next time, I think I'll just take the risk and warm those babies up and I think I can easily get below 2 for the 60ft.

My next challenge is figuring out if I want to E-Brake launch or not too. When I E-Brake, it helps load the drivetrain and is safer along with helping having a steadier RPM to dial in, but it messes with my RT. Any suggestions on that for other manual drivers? I need to dial that in. E-Brake or not...hmmmmmmm?

So my goals, get that 60 ft below 2, get the 330 ft below 5.7 and I'm good.

Oh I also add that the Barton shifter helped IMMENSELY. Not one shift missed today. But I also no longer ever try to powershift so I don't know if gear lockout still occurs.

Nice glad the shifters working for you. You gotta admit going down the track now without worrying if it's gonna shift is a great feeling.
Here's my slip from last night weather was humid, one thing I haven't had any issues with is traction, MT drag radials been gripping great.

Nice times! Yes, next year I have MT's in the plan. You don't drive on them as a DD though right? Do you put them on when heading to the track? I think that's the final key for really dialing in my 60ft. Burning some MT's up

Also, do you preload using the ebrake? Or just slip the clutch on launch? What RPM's you're launching at?

Oh wait...apparently the Bama tune from American Muscle has a 2-step in it? Hmm....I'm going to have to dig into that. I had no idea it existed!

I install the MT on track day and drive to track, it's a hr away, and plus driving them there warms up the sidewalls.
I launch about 3,800 rpm.
My cars stock except shifter and tires.
I just let the clutch go.

Oh nice, those MT's definitely work good then. If I launch at that high of an RPM, I'll be spinning for days. Good call on installing them track days. That's kind of what I was thinking of doing.

Yeah I wasn't liking preloading with the e-brake. It just felt so clumsy. I think I'll just continue slipping the clutch. I can still slightly load the drivetrain through slipping the clutch. I don't care about burning the clutch up. I just don't want to break the rear-end lol.

The rear ends on these cars are strong, there not like the 2004 and earlier cars
Here's video from yesterday, this run I had a tiny bit of wheel spin. It was my fastest run and best 60ft. Seems with just a little wheel spin helps.

That is good to know that these cars are stronger. I just have this major fear of breaking the axle. Especially after seeing 3 cars break at the track yesterday lol. (not mustangs). How often are you dragging your car?

I have noticed that these cars like a bit of wheel spin. It seems that I'm getting close to that happy medium. When trying to eliminate it completely, I totally bog. But when I have a bit of spin, I was getting my best times. Nice video too. I was getting about the same wheel spin on my best runs. So it's good to know that I'm not crazy in thinking some wheel spin is ok

I've also experimented with a 60lb bag in the trunk. I hate adding weight but it seems to have helped a lot too. What are your thoughts on weight?

One other variable I'm fighting is that the track I race at is all over the place. They try to prep it well, but they are really struggling with the track. So it's hard determining what is me and what is the track.

I got my best 60 ft at the track today. I did a 1.9694 in my "little" v6 on just the Nitto's at 20PSI. I also didn't warm them up at all. I'm discovering that warming these tires up is probably not really necessary. Of course the prep at the track today was really really good which definitely helped. I think soon I'm going to order a set of MT's, but I don't want to break my axle lol. Are there any others running MT's and if so, are you worried about breaking at all too?
