NHRA rule book mandates helmets at 13.99 and quicker for both coupes and convertibles.

Most tracks adhere to these rules as insurance tends to be tied to them. A roll bar is required at 13.99 for convertible cars.

Factory power adder cars require a cage at 11.50 and non factory power adder cars Require a cage at 11.99.

But for the most part was running low 14's
I was sliding through 1st and 2nd every time which I fault for my times... but then again I was driving so I guess it's user error
I'll get better the more I head to the strip but I'm curouis what your times are
I've searched youtube and have found many others with stock 5.0's that are also running mid to high 13's & low 14's
Memphis motorsports only hooks up good right after a big event. The rest of the time the guys in the stock FWD hondas running through the burnout box getting water all over the track kills any chance of decent times. Don't sweat it I remember even when my Z28 was stock feeling like it was sliding all the way down the track, and fuggedaboutit with the GTO, did it once won't do it again, I was embarrased, so it's not all you. I know the 5.0 is faster than that drove a couple already. Wait until after a big event then yardstick that performance, or in the fall, I have yet to see even the big guys (sandman etc) run anywhere near what they can on midnight madness or test and tune, 6 second cars blowing the tires coasting to 10's. Memphis's humidity blows hard during this time as well. Cars run like they are at 5K foot or something . Hell you rarely see any single digits down here on those nights unless they are on 2 wheels.

I haven't been since they opened it back up is Rooster still running the lights?

FIR is a 13.99 helmet track

if ti helps my 08 SGT ran a 14.1 and it was after the track was down for 2 hours because of a sand storm. I couldnt get it to hook all night because of the blowing dust after the storm. You should be much lower.

some guy said he needed video and stuff

Good info guys. I'll be borrowing one for sure then. Can't wait to see what this baby can do!

Would you guys reccommend running the stock Pirelli's or my Nitto's? Both being street tires I would like to think the Nitto's would be better for the width, but the stock Pirelli's have better traction IMO.

Please don't take offense to my video comment, its just my personal experience that people aren't completely honest when it comes to mods/track times.

Pictures of time slips are great, cuz at least SOME car went down the track and did it, but that's hardly proof. I am not calling anyone who posted a picture of a timeslip in this thread a liar, they seem perfectly legit. I've just seen plenty of people post pics of time slips that the mods don't match. These cars run SO good from the factory I don't understand why people want to still lie for a few tenths. Maybe they want to feel/look like they are at the top of the game? I guess I am sounding like a tool but I drag race a LOT and I can usually spot when someone is full of it, and on the internet thats most of the time.

I was in the middle of getting my transmission replaced under warranty so I wouldn't dare take my car to the track. And video it. And post it here for everyone to see. That might be seen as abuse, and I'd never do that. Ever.

You seem kinda paranoid. If it helps I'll post the slips from runs 1-5 on the car, which were much awfuler. Chronologically from right to left. Check out that 15.8! Yeah, dumping the clutch does not work at all with this car.

Hopefully you find it difficult to believe that somebody would be willing to lie about a 15.8 1/4'. I felt so stupid after that. I spun entirely through first, entirely through second, missed third, then when I did find it, spun entirely through that... just a miserable run.

I learned after that day to slip the clutch. That resulted in the first set of slips I posted (which were actually runs 7-9 in the car, run 6 was nothing to write home about!). I haven't run it since then - not enough money to replace tires, etc. etc. I'm not a rich man.

I've installed LCAs on the car since those runs - I should take it back before the season ends to see if that's helped any. I've gotten more comfortable with the car (this is the first manual I've owned) since I was back in May - I'd only had the car two months then.

^ Great description Hawkeye!

I'm right there with you, glad I have an auto! My first run was pretty much "keep it straight and hang on for dear life!" Then while waiting for the next run, some guys were asking me if I had wheel spin and what speeds it shifted. "Ummm... I have no idea." Second run I was able to pay more attention to what was actually going on.

Paranoid for good reason, I have had people make a pass right when I got to the track and I saw it, then I went up to them after and asked how they did and they lied to my face...by like a half second lol. People I knew well and thought they were my friend. It's like a crackhead who steals from his mom LOLOL.

I wouldn't feel stupid about a 15.8 pass, not if you learned something from it. That's the whole point/fun. Now if you felt like other people would have run faster in the same car, and lie to make yourself sound simliar...then you go right ahead and feel stupid lol.

It looks like you have come a long way since then, I bet when you go back you'll run even better. That feeling is why I keep going to the track.
