For those of you who have run...
Whats are your 1/4 mile times?
I'll be honest my best was a 13.9 the other day
But for the most part was running low 14's
I was sliding through 1st and 2nd every time which I fault for my times... but then again I was driving so I guess it's user error
I'll get better the more I head to the strip but I'm curouis what your times are
I've searched youtube and have found many others with stock 5.0's that are also running mid to high 13's & low 14's

You have to be smooth with your shifts. once you lose traction on the drag strip it's hard to regain it. Sometimes the traction just isn't there. if thats the case you'll notice most other cars running slower as well.

In Tennessee where you're at you've got to be near sea level. Even on a hot day you should definitely be going MUCH quicker. You just need seat time. Calm down behind the wheel and let the car tell you want it needs from you. Drive slow to go fast.
By comparison, my bone stock 2011 went 13.65@105.45 at bandimere speedway with a Density Altitude over 8000 feet.
Get some more seat time in and you'll improve!

I no longer believe ANY time I read on the internet unless it has a video attached, and that is just to start. Everyone lies about this, there's not much point in asking.
Just go to the track and try it out, if you have fun go back. I always like to better my time through driving and mods, I'm not much for bracket racing although it can be fun.

Density altitude is the phrase of the day
Anyways...
A trip to MIR (Bud's Creek) will turn that 5.0 into a factory freak and the track prep will make you a drag racing hero!
Sigh... were that it was so easy. Even as close as I live to MIR I haven't found the time to go there in a coupla years

I did a couple runs back in April when the local strip opened up:
Bone stock; 1/2 tank of gas+me = 3847 lbs. Stock tires, stock air, traction control set to Sport Mode.
Track DA = 505.
1st Run: RT=.77; 60'=2.13; 1/4 ET=13.06@110.55 mph!
2nd Run: RT=.76; 60'=2.04; 1/4 ET=12.89@110.82 mph!
Corrected for DA = 12.84 @ 111.17 MPH
Definitely had wheel spin in 1st and 2nd on this run!
Launched from idle with not much "technique". Still had fun, though.
* I have the auto. trans.

With a tune, and frankly nothing else save a short shifter. Nothing that increased power or traction.
These were runs 5-7 in the car, so there is definitely still much more to be had. Stock Brembo tires. I have very little experience, but I'm getting better.
What's the cut off for needing a helmet? 12.99 and faster? Just curious because I'll be going next Saturday to run mine and I don't have one. Not saying I'll run that fast, it's been 10+years since I've ran and I'll be lucky to hook up.

What'll happen is, if you manage to run a 11.99 or lower without a helmet, the track officials will inform you that you won't be running again unless you source a helmet. If they're feeling generous (or you have good negotiating skills) they'll let you finish out the day.
