It's really easy, takes maybe 5 minutes to get to the point in the photo.

1. Unscrew shift ****

2. Follow page 4 of this Roush guide to remove the center console piece. Basically you just open your center console and lift upward to pop it out. No screws hold it in place. You'll also have to unplug one or two connectors to give you enough slack to set it to the side.

3. Look at page 11 of the same guide. You'll see that only two screws at the bottom of the center stack face plate hold it in place. Remove the two screws and then pull forward. Ease the face plate out from the center stack and then unplug it's wiring harness. There is only one connection for the entire face plate.

The fact that when my kids get in and out of the back seat the seats don't have a "memory" feature for the rear tilt.... my SN95 had this and i miss it.

I was dismayed a bit when my Factory order showed up it was the lots first one and the guy I got it though was hoping it may have come with memory seats being a GT/CS but no luck , Now I ponder how hard or how much involved would it be to change them at best the drivers anyway.

The leather in the drivers seat is starting to loose its "tautness"......wrinkles seem to stay all the time now. Strange. I don't abuse the seats and i'm only 170lbs. Is this normal for these seats?

The edge of leather seats always seem to do this just from getting in and out of your auto. Its done this on every auto i have owned no matter what brand or quality of material.

You should be able to disable the luminated entry. Check your owner's manual.

I admint don't own one...but what is stopping me is the cheap *** plastic on the door panels. They went through the interior and did a bang up job but how much more would it have cost if they put a better material for the door panels (not the inserts).

It costs alot. That's why Porsche charges $3600 for a full leather interior. In fact, the 997 interior is much better, but previous 996 and 993 interiors haven't really been lauded for interior quality. In fact, not that I think cars.com is the best motoring press, but they even feel your 997 has alot of hard plastic:
http://www.cars.com/go/crp/research....=&acode=&mode=

And remember the Mustang is at least $20,000 cheaper than your 997, even if you get a GT500.

Audi and BMW use plastic on their door panels as well. Expect to see more of it- BMW had many complaints on the 3 series with people wearing down their cheap vinyl covering on the doors with their elbow out the window... Have you been in a 2010 Mustang yet, or are you assuming because there is plastic on the doors? It's the quality of the plastic that matters not its basic presence or absence. Most people have their arms on the armrest, and that is very nice leather in the 2010.

Actually my 08 328i has leather on the door panels...

I'm not asking for the Mustang to have leather and all that. However, even the Fusion has better door material than the Mustang and this includes the 2010. The hard plastic is such a turn off, they could use some synthetic matierial to cover it and at least give it a soft feel. It wouldn't be that much more. The door panels in the middle of the door is nice, its just the hard plastic surrounding it. Don't get me wrong the new interior is a huge step in the right direction. Other Fords have the better door materials, so could the Mustang.

As far as the 997, even the Porsche doesn't have the nicest interiors. I have the base 997S as far as interior is concerned other than the manual sport leather seats. The door material is some synthetic material not leather. Porsche is ridiculous on what they charge for thier options that have very little resale value. A base 997S starts in the high 80k range and it doesn't come with full leather, you can option a 997S with all the carbon fibre, real wood and leather everything and it pushes the car into the $100k range and when you go to sell it, it gets hardly anything as people want the car not so much all those options.

My Shaker 500 was delivered with scratches to the screen (ugh!). It should definitely be glass. Can someone tell me if the screen itself can be easily replaced or is it intregal with the head unit? Has anybody tried Meguiar's cleaner/polish #10 or #17 for clear plastic (or similar product)?

I called several dealerships before applying InvisibleShield and all of them said you cannot buy just the face plate. It's built into the head unit and costs something like $500. The fact that this piece isn't glass is simply ridiculous. It scratches very very VERY easily!! I tried several plastic polishes, including Meguiar's #10 and #17 and it only made matters worse. My suggestion - DONT TOUCH IT!!! I'm really happy with InvisibleShield, it made the scratches disappear 100%. The only downside is that it has a slight texture, which you can't really see unless the sun is on the display.

Tips for anyone that may decide to apply InvisibleShield to their Shaker screen:
1. Add one drop of dawn dish detergent to the spray bottle. Prior to doing this the lubricant was not slick enough and the material was simply not willing to cooperate. Adding one drop made things a hundred times easier.
2. Use a credit card wrapped in a micro fiber towel to squeegee bubbles and lubricant out from under the shield. Be gentle and don't worry about making things 100% perfect - see below.
3. It's normal to see small bubbles and solution under the shield. In fact, the whole area will look somewhat hazed until it dries. This is totally normal. Give it 12-24 hours and it'll look great.

I used Mcguaire's Plastix on the clear lens of the gauge cluster on my 1984 Tbird that I am restoring. It worked a freakin' miracle on something I believed was going to be written off due to the severity of the lens being cloudy and severely spotted from some unknown chemical. What a save! It turned out good as new for me. I would use the Plastix then cover it with a clear protectant sheet.

I share your same sentiments. I have a 1984 Tbird with vinyl interior door panels and they have stood the test of time. The Tbird also has vinyl knee pads for the lower driver's side and glove box door and they are in excellent shape after 25 years. I am annoyed with how easy the Mustang door panels and console are to scratch. Sure I could replace them but just to have them scratch again? Before I replace them though I would cover them with matching leather or vinyl.

I did notice too that the Fusion has the soft touch door panels and wonder why Ford just didn't go one step further and include the door panels on the Mustang with the recent redesign. All ford had to do was make them the same material they made the door armrest pad. The armrest pads are tough, durable and feel much better than the plastic. That is something I would have paid a premium on the base sticker for.
