They are dealing on the '10 GTs!
Umm... I am pretty sure the state sales tax is set by the state government and Schwarzenegger -- who is a Republican. Not that it makes much of a difference these days -- both sides have been in a spend, spend, spend sort of mood. Let's not forget, TARP and all that was under Bush.

Yup, 9.25% tax in my county and ~$500 in title and registration fees. Here in CA you also pay other misc. fees such as tire disposal (to pay for FUTURE recycling of your new tires, as I understand it).

Thanks! I've now purchased 3 GTs ('05, '06 and '10) since I created that screen name. I came up with it back in '04 as a riff on the old MTV ad slogan here in the U.S. from the '80s "I Want My MTV". Yeah, I'm old...

Of course Ford is going to "deal" on the 2010's...they shot themselves in the foot by announcing the BIG increase in horsepower for the 2011's both V6 and GT...now everyone is waiting for them to come out...and unfortunately, 2010's will no longer be in great demand...so their prices are going to drop rapidly.
90% of Mustang owners are not enthusiasts like the people found on this forum. They'd be willing to save a few thousand for the new body style and old engines. The 2010s will sell just fine with reasonable rebates.
Adam, I think you may be a little high in your estimate about how many are not enthusiasts. That would say that all the Mustangs that are sold, only 10% are enthusiasts. I have to say its ALOT higher than 10%.
I think that GT buyers are overwhelmingly enthusiasts, and as a result most by now know that the 5.0 is coming. Therefore, they won't buy a '10 unless the deal is so good that they can't walk away. If I was looking to buy a new GT now, I would only consider a '10 if it was at least 7K off sticker. And if I'd bought a '10 for top dollar before I knew about the new motor, I would be seriously pi$$ed at Ford right now.
Same supposed expert couldn't guess the MY of my current 'Stang even with the 40th Anniversary badge that I clearly pointed out to him. I probably should have just walked out, but I argued with the guy and the sales manager for a good 30 minutes. I don't think all dealerships are out to screw the customer, but high pressure sales guys like this give the legit Car Sales industry a bad name. Needless to say they lost my buisness on an '11 GT.
Agreed. I went to test drive and check out a '10 GT at a local dealership last month to get a feel for the new interior and such. And they wanted to get the '10s they had on the lot sold so badly the supposed dealership "Mustang Specialist" swore up and down the 5.0 wasn't going to happen MY '11 and that he hadn't heard anything otherwise and I would be crazy not to bite on a '10.

All they had was a grabber blue V6, so he told me grabber blue was a V6 only color
