Ten months later... my 2011 V6 update

OK, so I've been gone awhile. For myriad reasons (none of which involve jail, thanks.)

But here I am exactly 10 months after taking delivery of my 2011 V6 Mustang with a report.

I now have 17,000 miles on the odometer with most of those long highway trips but a fair share very local (5 miles or less). Mileage has been good and right about where advertised. I've recorded every fill-up since day one. I'm averaging 24 MPG. On the long trips, it's typically 27-30 with a best of just shy of 31 MPG. My worst was about 16 MPG (no highway miles, all spirited local driving.) My car is equipped with the 6 speed manual and the 3.31 gears (Those were the optional ones for the V6, right?), The EPA rating is 19 and 29 (city/highway). So I'm right where I should be and very happy with the fuel economy so far.

The ride and handling have been excellent. The Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires have been wearing well with one tire rotation so far.

Only one issue has cropped up so far and that's an intermittent SRS/Airbag light which from reading here sounds like I'm not alone. Because it's intermittent and almost never in the morning, I have yet to take it to the dealer.

The car is simply a joy to own and drive. I loaded this one out with nearly every option sans the HIDs and I can say it was well worth it. The NAV/Audio seemed like an expensive option but whenever I go back to my truck I feel like I'm missing something.

I would definitely buy another one!

No, you wouldn't have 3.55 gears. I think the Performance Package V6 comes with 3.31s, tops.

Also, what do you think of the MT-82 transmission now that you've put some miles on it? Any problems or odd characteristics?

I should read my own signature. :-p I have the 3.31's.

I LOVE this transmission. Smooth as melted butter and better than what I had in my C5 'vette and CTS-V.

I wonder if 3.73's would be fun on the V6?

The dual clutch fluid definitely helped my shifting and grinding (shudders), but it still is a -bit- notchy in gears 1-3.

Awesome, glad to hear that. If you listen to some of the people around here, though, they'll try their best to convince you that the MT-82 is deeply flawed and that's it "only a matter of time" before you will start experiencing scary problems. Some of those same people will actually encourage you to go out and try to "replicate" these supposed problems just so they can feel better about themselves and their unfortunate stroke of bad luck.

Anyway, congrats, and keep enjoying the car!

Is the MT-82 in both the V6 and the GT?

Yes, it is. There are some differences in the clutch and flywheel but the unit is basically the same in the V6, GT, and BOSS.

jerry, just curious about the air bag light..

every now and then, when it lights up on my car, i usually have something on the passanger seat that has some weight to it, but not alot.. for instance.. i had a 30pack (no i wasnt drinking and driving) on the seat and the light was on the entire time.. until i took it out and restarted the car.. i think there is a pressure sensor under the seat..

i was curious if anything was on the seat when it lit up..

Glad you are enjoying it! I'm a fellow NOVA Stanger, too. Are you a member of NVMC?
