Taking my 5.0 to the track tomorrow, very excited

I'll be taking my 5.0 to the track tomorrow, I'm very excited. The DA should be 0-600(Low 50's at night)

My car has so far SCT 93 tune, Steeda Lowering Springs, BMW LCA's. I'll be running 275/50/17 M&H Racemasters

I figure, the 28" tall drag radial will allow me to finish in 4th gear(3.73). 116mph is 7000RPM, with my limiter set at 7300, or 122mph. Should allow some growth for future mods, as I am waiting to install my SW full exhaust and JLT intake

Traditionally, that track prep is VERY poor at my track.. I'm not expecting anything less than a 1.8 60'. With that being said, I'm hoping for a 12.3 @ 113. My I'm not a super driver, but I can hold my own. But talk is cheap, I'll get back to post my results, with videos as well

Clutch was replaced last week, hopefully it will hold up.

5000rpm launches on drag radials are never easy on stock clutches, so I'm not expecting much

im hoping for 12.7 or better, with better air

with drag rad you should be able to pull off a 1.7 60'

Yeah, at any other track you should be able to... Come to my track and try it out. Easier said then done

My best pass of 12.76 @ 108 with my 07 was on drag radials, so i'm no amateur to drag radials

Good luck. I just mounted DR's for tomorrow's track night myself. How long did the stock clutch last? Which brand did you go with?

I'm guessing the dealer did the fix by replacing it by a Shelby pedal assembly.

I figure I went 12.7 with 310RWHP in my old car, I wont be happy with anything slower than a 12.40...

Stock clutch, lets not talk about how long it lasted...

It was replaced with another stocker, to the best of my knowledge

Yes it was replaced, but the pedal assembly was untouched...

The clutch has operated "average" i would say for 7200rpm fast shifts... It doesnt feel as good as it could i would say, but its liveable and manageable

I'm worried about the clutch physically slipping from the hard launches, instead of sticking to the floor. I'll just let her cool down after each run so it doesnt overheat. I'm waiting for Spec to come out with a 3+ for the 5.0

Good luck.

I'm taking my bone stock 5.0 to MIR on Friday for a full track day (GTR Group I know is renting the track out) so if the weather cooperates I am hoping for some good times.

BTW, anyone have any rear tire pressure and launch rpm recommendations? I've only had the car a week and haven't launched it yet, so I'd like to get an idea of where I should start.

If you are on stock tires then launch off idle like you are taking off from a normal street light, but a lot more aggressive. I took my tire pressure down to 28 psi in my Lightning and that worked for me. Don't forget to put air back in your tires before you leave the track.

Thanks, I figured I'd start off around 28-30ish and go from there.

Based on the number of cars there i should have enough time to get in 40+ runs if my heart desired. Don't think the car would enjoy that, though.

Took my 5.0 to the track, results!

Well, I am back from the track, very interesting experience...

First off, the tires are a 275/50/17 M&H Racemaster Drag Radial. I used 15-16psi and a 4600rpm dump

My first pass was a 12.71 @ 113 with a 2.16 60', it spun bad. A mixture of too much air(19psi) and too much rpm (5000). But the car shifted fairly decent

2nd pass, 12.52 @ 110.36 with a 1.88 60'. This time I lowered to 17psi and tried 4000rpm launch. It bogged. However, on the 3-4 shift, the clutch stuck to the floor making the shift take MUCH longer, lowering the trap speed. I decided to let the car cool for 1 hour hoping it would get rid of the clutch issue

3rd pass, 12.49 @ 109.9 with a 1.80 60'. Car launched great, 4300rpm. Slight bog However, the clutch acted up in the 2-3 and the 3-4 shift again. Messing with my trap speed

4th pass, 12.455 @ 109.3 with a 1.755 60'. Car felt awesome off the line, slight spin but they REALLY hooked great. 3-4 second burnout in first gear, saw some smoke. Launched at 4600rpm. However, the clutch really did its toll on the 1-2,2-3,3-4 shifts. Totally killed the ET and trap. I feel with a properly working clutch and the fantastic air this evening, a 12.2 was not out of the question. Not bad for tune only...
