Cool Stripes: Paint or Tape?

I'm planning an '11 gt convertible premium, red candy. Want the hood stripe but the ford vehicle accessories only allows for white or black. I want a silver metallic. Would you advise taping or painting?

Depends what you're willing to spend...

Vinyl looks just as good and you can take them off, if you choose you want to switch it up ever. It's just there's a 1-2mm relief (not flush with the paint).

stangmods.com has a nice 10" stripe setup that goes the whole length of the car if you desire. And offers them in many colors (silver metallic is $35 more opposed to Gloss silver). If you use them, PM me for a promo code, it'll save like $12. Plus the site has free shipping.

Just an option.

Stripes... as mentioned, you can change or remove them if you'd like. I've read good reviews about: http://www.baltimorestreetmods.com/

Very nice, the grabber blue looks great with those dual stripes.

I'd never paint stripes, but mainly because I like to keep the resale value of my car. Easy enough to pull them off if the next owner doesn't like them.

Vinyl is fine but painted stripes looks WAY better IMO.

I had two 10 inches white stripes painted on my 05 Torchred GT and the result was fantastic!!
Of course, it cost quite more if done correctly... remove clear coat, painting stripes and then reapply clear coat on the whole thing...

When I sold that car, I had many interested parties that were willing to pay the extra I was asking because the stripes were painted (The car was also lowered and had great Konig Mags). I do not think you have to worry about resale value... as a nice looking car will sell for more $$ or will sell faster anyway...

FYI, the body shop who did the stripes on my GT originally asked me 2000$ for the job, but I managed to get it done by them for 1200$. Only I don't know if metallic can be done in painting.

Does your paint weather uneven with vinyl? Thats my big worry about tape, you take them off and you still have stripes cuz the paint is two different colors now.

When you remove vinyl stripes after a couple years, somtimes you can see a ghost of it in the morning with the dew.
