Question Steering way too light - how do I firm it up?

The steering feel lightened up a lot after I swapped my winters for my summer tires (original P Zeros). Steering wheel was also off-center.

Alignment shop centered the wheel but now the feel went from very firm to pretty light, no matter what steering mode is selected. So I use Sport all the time but it still isn't as firm as the old Standard mode. Have about 12-13K on the P Zeros. Alignment already checked OK.

Dealer says its fine. Alignment shop said it could just be the tires wearing down.

Is it the tires? Something else I should be checking?

Car is my DD.

Maybe pull the negative battery cable for 10 minutes and reset the pcm, might help.

Are your tire pressures too high?

Thanks - didn't think of this...

Will pulling the cable reset the pcm automatically? Or is there an additional step after that?

Should be 35 psi, right? (OEM 19 PZeros)

Thanks!

Nope, just pull the cable for 10 minutes and put it back.

You will lose your radio presets though.

Great, will reset the PCM and see what happens. Tire pressure is 35 so it's not that.

Thanks again!

I don't know about the 19's, but my 18's are recommended to be 32psi.

Try it, it's free.
I always test the air pressures when I get new tires, to find out what pressure performs and feels the best. Sometimes a couple psi. one way or the other can make a noticeable difference. I had a set of 20's on my last car that ran great at 40 psi.

I run the 19's on my '11 GT/CS at 29 psi. Tried it all over and found the best all around psi for my driving vs tire wear and pattern.
