It may be pre-production or hopefully tunable through a handheld tuner. I found this on AFM published 12-28-2009:

"Improved driving dynamics

EPAS has made a dramatic contribution to Mustang GT driving dynamics, delivering quicker on-center steering response, increased effort at highway speeds and reduced effort required in low-speed parking maneuvers. EPAS allows specific tuning for the Mustang GT application. For 2011, front and rear brakes are larger, the rear lower control arm has been improved and rear stabilizer bar bushings have been stiffened."

Hmm... I wouldn't mind trying me a bit of that sloppy steering feel.

Is there a way to actually get some of these 'engineering test' mode options into the screen?
I set mine up under this scenario, and liked a few offerings that I felt would be cool in the display. Namely the Speed- but also the tach, coolant temp, and voltage...

Here's a few I snapped with my phone showing the current speed read outs...

1999-2004 Mustang had this as well. Same thing. I used it maybe once or twice just for fun.

Seems like a neat feature just to mess around with. Does anyone know if the '05-'09 do this? I have an '08 and I can't seem to get it to go into the test mode.

Seems like you should since it started in 99?
The thing that tripped me up was the first time I tried was I after 2-3 seconds after I started the car I just let go of the buttons... and hence nothing happened. You have to as stated- 1. hold down rest and setup, 2. start the car. 3. continue to hold them (for like 5 seconds or so) until the test mode takes over.

Hope it works!

At least in my '08, it doesn't work. It goes into a display diagnostic screen.

If you look at the Mustang that is up on its side for car shows. There is a sign that says "Driver Adjustable steering". So i belive its in the sport mode, you get harder steering. Ronn

UPDATE:
Adjustable steering has been located.

2012 Boss 302
To complement the suspension, the speed-sensitive electronic steering system has been retuned to maximize feedback and road feel to the driver. The driver is also given the option of fine-tuning the steering feel to his liking by selecting one of three settings through the instrument cluster menu: Comfort, normal and sport modes help offer track-tuned steering when desired without sacrificing low-speed maneuverability in parking situations and everyday commuting.

so thenn thats telling me more than likely its just a program code that was either

1 blocked.
2 not put in.

im going with #1 meaning a programmer should be able to find it and unlock it.

I saw that on the Boss Info release. I hope the tuners can find it.

All 2012 GT's get this feature. However, keep in mind that the STANDARD and SPORT modes ARE selectable on 2011 GT's with the Brembo Package. The car is in STANDARD mode by default. When you tap the ESC button 2x and enter SPORT mode, the steering stiffens substantially.

I've never seen any hard evidence that the steering changes when you change from normal to "Sport" in the AdvanceTrac settings.

Sport mode is on most GT's already. My 2010 Automatic has it... EPAS is on 2011+

And steering doesn't stiffen under sport mode... Unless you can provide a link/quote there's never been talk about steering effect.

Steering does in fact require more effort when in sport mode for the 2011. My approximation would be 33% more effort is needed. Not a big change but noticable.
