Squealing noise in park

Just noticed that sometimes my car squeals pretty loudly when I put it in park after I get home (it's an automatic). Sometimes no noise at all. I park on a slightly inclined driveway.

If I take it out of park and move it a foot, put it back in park again, often the squeal will go away.

Should I scramble to find time to take this in right away? Or can I chill and take it in in a week or two when I have more time?

The only reason I ask is that if it involves the "P" (brake), maybe I should take it in earlier (for safety?). But it's 1000% times more convenient if I can wait a week.

if you know and can reproduce this on demand. .... definitely take it in and have it looked at.the car may not be "broken" per say right now, but who knows if it will progress into something worse and more severe/expensive.

yeah - get er done!

Hi Mrsuitcase,

I agree with JoeMidnight. You should bring it in as soon as possible and let me get this escalated to the customer service manager for your area. Please, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number so I can help.

I can't reproduce it every time, but I took a video of it.

I'll send you the info after I pick a dealer to send it to, Deysha!

Hard to hear it for me, but have you checked the serpentine belt for tightness? Not sure if you're familiar with belt squeal, but it's definitely noticeable if you have it.

try popping the hood and just listen for it..... see if you can determine where the sound may be coming from... regardless, that has to get checked out.
