Splitter order placed - great deal I think
I've been wanting to add a splitter for a while, and I started looking at building my own as to not pay big $$ for the Ford Racing one. In searching around, I came across the Stillen Generation 1 spoiler (image below from another site), and it turns out it is a steal on the Stillen site at $220 right now. By far the best deal I could find out there.
Might hold off mounting until I get a tow hook / splitter turnbuckle mount for the front, but from what I could find, on the Stillen site, the current cost is almost $200 less than anywhere else at the moment, so figured I'd jump on this.

Is the intent more down force at speed on the front end? I know you track my car, more frequently than i do
just curious about your motivation for the splitter. Also, if this is Gen 1, how is Gen 2 different? And pardon my ignorance, but do the 2 struts make it adjustable?
P.S. I just ordered some SVE drift wheels in 19x9.5 for my tack days . I'm quite stoked, can't wait to see them on my car. At 26lbs each and $189 I think that's a great deal too

Yes I am looking at this for a bit of additional grip at high speed. I've been thinking of how I could capture some data to determine of I get more downforce at high speed... Might be ae to ce up with a method. Planning on a serious rear wing down the road as well, probably something that I can put on for a track day and then swap out with the OEM one for daily driving
The gen 2 is more of a visual front lip not so much a splitter with the struts. The struts will allow for a little adjustment but mainly they take the load that the splitter should creat and distribute that load to the bumper support. It's essentially the same as the Laguna Seca setup.
Wheels sound great - not a bad deal at all. Picked out tires for them yet??

As for tires I'm still debating between Bridgestone Potenza S04 Pole Position, Hankook Ventus V12 Evo, and BF Goodrich Sport Comp 2s all in 275/40-19. Hard decision though.

I was actually just thinking of mounting a go-pro on the door aimed at the front wheel, attaching a small ruler or gauge of some sort at the top of the wheel well, hanging down towards the wheel. Then capture some video driving on the flat, smooth highway nearby before and after the splitter.
If there is any significant downforce (say 50 lbs or more), I would expect to see a small difference in front end compression at high speeds (closed road only of course). Could then just add some weights statically in the garage to roughly approximate how much force (if any) I'm getting. I figure I'd only be looking for effectiveness at speeds over 90 or so. And if this thing is actually reasonably functional, then it would give me good reason to "need" to increase the rear grip through some aero modifications as well!
Unless anyone has some fancy measurement equipment that I could borrow... Or a rolling wind tunnel

Well since the Boss mustang was meant to be a track car and had that awesome functional front splitter with the pedestal spoiler, I would think they would work fine together. The plan for me is to get a functional splitter with the pedestal spoiler.

So I was looking on the Stillen website and their splitter had the turnbuckles mounted to the exterior of the bumper. I am guessing they can be moved to the lower grill area when you install it like the one in the first post?

How does it get installed?
Looks great and glad to hear it is pretty functional.
