Someone has to know..

Anyone have any idea what the hold up is on shipping in the NE?

my car hasnt moved at all on the rail car since July 1st.. at some interchange?

going on its 3rd week of transport.. it left ramps on june 22..
dealer is of no use. so who can be contacted to get this thing moving. this is beyond absurd with all the crap i've gone through to get this car. honestly its getting to the point of cancellation..
not a threat,

I need "A CAR", if i don't have it by the end of the week. i need to cancel and purchase something else to get me back and forth to work..

Where was it last you heard? Mine was in Melvindale, MI on the 23rd of June (don't remember exact day it made it there) and on the 7th it made it to I believe Evansville, Indiana. I have a scheduled delivery date of this past Saturday so my dealer told me to expect it early this week. Mine is heading to Massachusetts. It was you or someone else on this board recently whom I noticed had similar dates to what I was seeing and is in the CT or MA area.

How do you guys find out exactly where the car is? Mine was supposed to be delivered yesterday but no go. I'm curious if there's a way to more precisely pinpoint its location.

Simple answer: ask your dealer to check vehicle visibility.

Longer answer: Find out where it "should" be and go from there. If it's at AAI, call Ford CS (or AAI directly). If it's in transit, get the rail car # and call CSX. If it's at the final destination ramp, call your dealer.

My father is in the shoe business and he says the same thing happens to his shoes when they come from china, they don't have enough planes (due to major cutbacks when the economy went to ****) to move everything so the available space goes to the highest bidder pretty much. His shoes could sit there for 2 weeks before they get put on a plane. In this case, the available trains could be going to whomever will pay the highest price to get them first.

I don't have any evidence that this is the reason, but it was just a thought of mine... I saw some similarities in this situation I guess.

My car was built 5/19 and supposedly left on 6/21. Last update I got around 6/28 was it was in Jessup. Nothing since. Told my dealer I would go pick it up. He is supposed to call me some time today with an update. Can't believe we are going on two months. My $750 coupon expires on Friday. Fingers crossed.

Your car has been sitting in Jessup since the 28th? JESUS CHRIST. Mine's been there since the fourth.

I am going to call my dealer tonight to see if they or I can go pick it up. I want it by this weekend because my dad is coming to visit and I only get to see him once or twice a year.

Yes. Hard to believe isn't it. Original ETA 6/5. Revised ETA 7/2. Actual ETA ?

For those wanting to track your new Mustang after it has been built at Flat Rock it is a learning process in the beginning. I searched forum after forum and most info was old 2007 info. There is a forum at another website (Blue Oval Forums ) where you can get build info and your window sticker as soon as the car is serialized. The window sticker was all the info I needed to get started on finding out the rail car number. Once your vehicle gets to Ship Date you can call VOPC (1-800-962-3746) to get a Rail car Number (The bottom of your window sticker says "Method of Transport," convoy mean rail car). You must speak to an Analyst to get the rail car number. They may ask you for the following information:

1. Your Dealer Code: Found on your order sheet

2. Your Name: Use your salespersons First and Last name

3. VIN or Order #: (I chose VIN so I don't know what they ask for with the order #)
For VIN: They ask for the first 2 digits (Mustangs are 1Z) and the last 8.

Then once you have the rail car # it is time to track.

Option # 1 http://c01.my.uprr.com/pet/motorVehicleTrace.jsp

Union Pacific does the west coast shipments. (but in my case at this point it will not track) I get : No Information available on Public Trace (Reason:Car not in valid state (AC))

Option # 2 is Norfolk Southern 1-800-635-5768 and it works nice.

You can speak your rail car number or enter it on the dial pad.

Option # 3 CSX - 1-800-235-2352 (this can be tricky) There is a tutorial to listen to.

Here is how to do it. My car number is ETTX710369

On dial pad 3 then 2 , 8 then 1, 8 then 1, 9 then 2 , then # pound. Then it will ask to enter the numbers I enter 710369. Then YOU MUST HIT # Pound (it will start asking to enter another car number BUT JUST hit # pound again )

Hope this helps anyone trying to do this in the future.

First, the number (to find your rail car) has changed but you'll automatically be redirected.

Second, the person who answered was confused because this is a dealer only line...and she wasn't too unplesant about it....but not thrilled to be talking to a customer.

Third, I got bad news. My dealer had some very specific information about my car supposedly already being in transit but she said that the vehicle had not left the plant yet and was quite sure that this information was up to date.

EDIT:
Fourth, when she saw that this was a call about a Mustang, she said "ooohh... that's why" and went on to say that there was a hold on Mustangs but gave nothing more specific.

Fifth: GRRR!

A hold on Mustangs? No, I'm sure Shaun (Stinger1982) said there isn't a hold on them. Even Dave Pericak (Mustang Chief Engineer) said there isn't a hold on them.

No, I'm sure there weren't any holds on Mustangs. Heck, mine even got delivered WITH the wrong coolant sticker!

well the more i investigate the more aggravated i get..

spoke to a Norfolk Southern Rep.
rail cars in NY area are backlogged for offloading..

basically FORD isnt UNLOADING them off the rail cars...

my dealer stated they have full lots at the facility and no room to move cars off, they are moving them VERY slowly, and for some reason they are not moving them off either.

Offloading them off rail cars? I'm not sure Ford has much control over that. That sounds like it'd be an issue with the shipper.

The logistics company handles transportation from AAI and delivery through multiple modes of transport to final delivery.

Oh wow... Just realized where Binghamton actually is. I'm supposed to drive to Ct on Friday night. I don't have the urge to break the engine in on I-84.

/To a Long Islander it's all just "upstate NY".
