One or both of your control arm bushings are bad.

Bushings

Thanks for the reply Ron11,
How did you determine your bushings were bad? I looked at mine prior to cleaning the crud from the brake pads, but didn't see any obvious signs of wear or damage. Can the bushings be installed without dropping the whole LCA assembly?

Not having to hear that popping - cracking sound is a big relief, and hard to believe the brake pads attributed to it. So maybe the bushings could be worn out because the car made a loud slamming sound when I drove over a raised concrete lip between coming off a paved road. Front shocks are new, and the car has almost 89K on it.

The road crews in this state can't figure out how to make roads flat. They dump asphalt in a hole, leaving the mound for cars to flatten out. Cars take a beating in this state. I'm always maneuvering around pot holes, moguls, and sunken surfaces. Tax dollars at work...........

Thanks.

L enter and out of tie rods

I tried two hard stops from 40 but no change.

I just moved the car in the parking lot at work and could not get it to make the sound so it seems like it has to be driven for a bit first to do it.

Maybe I will try some hard stops from 60 or 80 as a "test".
Sounds sounds like tie rods to meafter you've driven on them for a while they will begin to pop or snap at low speeds because the joints are wore out.
