I haven't so far, which is surprising because I'm coming from an AWD 3series that couldn't burn rubber no matter how hard you tried...I'm still in the phase where the extra power and RWD are still exciting haha

Lol. I once got a ticket when I was 17 for "excessive acceleration". It was when I first got my Tbird turbo coupe and wasn't used to the turbo kicking it. That was one hell of a fun car for its size.

They call that "Exhibition of Speed" here in Colorado. It carries the same 12 point and misdemeanor offense as a drag racing ticket.

I am often a "professional driver on a closed course" so I often exceed the limits of adhesion of the factory issued tires while accelerating. Translation: I burn 'em off every chance I get (as long as it's safe to do so).

No intentional tire frying. Occausional cheerps though. Usually by accident ;-) Of course, finishing off the old set on the way to the tire shop would be acceptable. I change them at the wear bars so there is plenty left for a bit of smoke.

No big deal. Just thought it was funny how you pipe up and attack my post on the whack job leftanista CNN article about our bad V8's, and then make a thread about burning rubber - which is about the worst polluting smoke there is.

Carry on Mr. Connecticut.
Pardon me. Had I known that you were of the superior sort who lives in the mountains, cut off from brain corrupting media (excepting the entirety of the interweb, of course ) I wouldnt have mistaken you for a fan of Rush Limbaugh despite the fact that you apparently thought up the same juvenile nickname for the guy, just by pure coincidence.

So now you're bigoted against the entire state of Connecticut? Stop making an a-- out of yourself.

That's insane.

In CT, it's "unsafe start from a stop" which is a ticket...but not a particularly big one IIRC.

Obvioulsy, I wouldn't suggest that anyone blaze the tires where there are "non-enthusiasts" within hearing range.

If I take the 35s off and stick some 235s back on she will do burnouts all day long, and it's got a detroit locker

Doesn't even have to be a burnout. Even if you never break traction, hard acceleration even up to the speed limit can be ticketed as exhibition of speed.

Though I think it would be quite a bit easier to argue in court.

"Exhibition of Acceleration" here in Texas. Weighted about the same. Amazingly I picked one up in a 4-cylinder Ranger right out of high school, I was almost proud at the time

In high school, a friend of mine was showing his exhibition of speed ticket awarded him for getting "la-bamba" his 1960 impala inline six 3 in the tree to chirp. Apparently with great effort and the assistance of water on the road. I do think the cops were out to get him as for a while every other weekend he was getting stopped for one thing or another.

Right. I'll take that as a retraction...
...moving on.

Has anyone broken anything from wheelhop in these cars yet?
I can imagine that with slicks, this could be incredibly violent..

Every now and then on the backroads. Especially when I see a set. I gotta out do it! Rolled the hides on an 01 Vette last week matter of fact testing the car out for a friend before he bought it . Got my stamp of approval.
