The small things that count!??

Improvements include outside temp/compass readout, trunk release, back of seat map pockets, auto headlights, the "Fusion" key, led brake light, dual zone temperature control available but......

whatabout home link? Why is the ww stalk now on the left?...the current set up avoids "all in one" and design wise follows the dash contour; is there a glove box or console light? Do the side mirrors fold back? Outside heated mirrors? Does "My color" include the entire instrument/console back lighting? One touch turn signals? Better trunk lighting? An under hood light? Dead pedal?

I applaud Ford for the improvements, but I'll bet more could be done....even if an option package.

That is very disappointing if they do not offer Homelink...again. However the mirror with the outside temp/compass readout is not new, that was an option starting in 2007. My 2007 GT Premium Vert had it, although I took it out to install one that also included Homelink in addtion to the compass and temp. Having the Homelink is almost a necessity for convertibles to prevent someone from stealing your garage door opener. I guess they just want us to keep the dealer accessory catalog well supported.

Edit: Correction, it has been so long since I replaced the mirror that I forgot that the stock mirror only had the compass display, not the temp. I installed the Homelink mirror (ordered it from Mazda, the same part number, but a lot cheaper than from Ford) which does have the temp and Homelink in addition to the Comfort Group compass mirror.

Am I missing something? My '08 has the compass but no outside temp. Never saw it as an option either.

The order guide says compass/temp readout in center display....yes, you could order the compass/mirror (I have an '07) and add a mirror w/ outside temp as an accessory....my point was both come with the car as standard equipment.

According to the 2007 and 2008 order guides, there is no temp display. Both list the following:

Comfort Group (53B) – includes heated driver and passenger seats, 6-way power passenger seat and electrochromic mirror with compass

No mention of temperature anywhere there.

Aftermarket, yes, but factory, no.

You could order the Homelink/auto-dimming/compass/temperature mirror from Ford and then have it installed by the dealer. Not part of the factory package though, no. I know, I installed it on mine.

Is there a glove box or console light?
Do the side mirrors fold back?
Outside heated mirrors?
Better trunk lighting?
An under hood light?
Dead pedal?
Gotta have some features to hold back for 2011...2012...2013.

Even if its priced in an option package, including the ability to change out the part costs extra in complexity and extra parts. This is why you don't see roll-up windows any more- its costs more to have two doors made than one.

Some of the things you mention are the common components Ford uses on all cars to save $ ( the all-in-one ww stalk saves $, and the MyColor can only apply to components not shared w/ other Fords. The centerstack is shared w/ the Flex and the doorhandles/shifter with other Fords. )

Some other things are due to the carryover understructure of the current S197.

Another small thing that counts is the price. I am happy they've been able to include as mcuhas they did without jacking up the price too much. Its a delicate balance, and I think Ford achieved it!!!

I concur Ford has reached a good balance, and frankly some of the things I listed will likely be available from Ford (like Homelink) or can be moded....I was simply observing that which had been done and that which might have been done....other than the all in one ww stalk really does bug me.....I like the unique well designed stalk of the '05-'09....you would think they could have carried it over.
