SLP Loudmouth on 2011 Mustang GT
SLP Loudmouth on 2011 Mustang GT
My quest for the "right" exhaust continues, as I am so ready for an upgrade to the OE exhaust. It's just way too quite back there!!! IMO, the 5.0 deserves a much louder and more muscle car sound... after all, that's what it is!
Wondering if anyone has the SLP Loudmouth Axleback (#M31023) installed on their 2011 5.0. As this is a muffler delete system, is there any drone with this system? How about performance due to loss of backpressure?
Just found one video on YouTube, and I know, videos and soundclips don't do any justice vs. hearing the exhaust in person...

Nice to finally see someone install the slp delete axle backs. Now that is a bad clip due to the crappy speakers of the camera but when it takes off you can here it better. I do like it but want to here more. Borla s-type still #1 on my list til I here different
I don't have one (yet) but this will be the one that I go for. I think the Bama tune was developed with this one as well.

Completely out of left field.
I know... I'm still debating going with the full cat-back system as well... just looking to save some $$$ right now... maybe in the future I'll install a full system with headers!
Yeah but not everyone wants an x-pipe that most exhaust companies offer with there catback kit. I'm still debating on getting a 3" h-pipe. So I will be buying the axlebacks first and go from there. Way to many options and different combinations after axleback. I want something a little different than the rest of the bunch

I think I'll actually try the SLP Loudmouth muffler delete system and will order it on Monday... still researching prices and shipping rates before placing my order.
I talked to a rep from SLP yesterday, and it seems that the Loudmouth muffler delete is about 5x as loud as the stock setup. Drone should be limited to none... but I guess I just have to see, hear and feel it for myself.
Looks like the prices range anywhere between $ 390 and $ 440, which is awesome and affordable!
Anybody got one of those bad boy systems installed yet???

2011 GT,
I am reviving this Thread. I hopeful that all of you provider your feedback. I just ordered a SLP for my 2013 Mustang GT. Please inform me of how your SLP exhaust is working for you. I want to ensure that I got it right.
So far as the drone issue, I have been hearing a lot about it with the SLP I, but I the SLP II was suppose to be the best of both worlds (when matched with the PowerFlow).
My understanding is, if you are going to go with a full exhaust change over or Cat delete, the PowerFlow will be needed and the SLP I will sound pretty bad.
End State, I do not plan on going beyond the axle so the SLP I is best for me. I wish the SLP II were offered but they seem to not be available for the 2013 GTs.

I never understood why people wasted money on the SLP "loudmouth" instead of just hacking off their mufflers, or replacing their mufflers with a resonator. Simply put, that is what SLP does for $500 or more, when the casual modder could do it themselves for next to nothing.

I had them on my 2009...which is obviously a very different sounding engine but i think the complaints of drone were similar and I had NO complaints about that exhaust. It will probably be too loud with cat deletes, etc since cats resonators, etc dampen the sound level a lot and make muffler deletes acceptable.
You already ordered them...bolt them up and enjoy! The weight savings is pretty good too!
I am extremelhy happy with my SLP's so far and have absolutely no complaints. Like I mentioned before, there is some drone around 2100rpm, but in my opinion its not outrageous. Due to the muffler delete, the cold start is loud and might wake up some neighbors, depending on where you live, but gives a nice rumble afterwards.
Back when I installed them, I bought them for less than $ 350. A friend of mine just installed a set of Borla axle-backs and spent more than $ 900, which I can't see why.
I'm actually thinking of adding the Boss quad-side exhaust to my set-up.
Hope this helps...

Because Borla's are Borla's. I had them on my Cobra, and bar-none they were the best sounding exhausts on the market. Plus they will last forever. You simply don't get Borla's support from any other company.
