That's a lot closer to what I've experienced. I was worried I was doing something wrong that was causing it to go into second so rough, but if it's just the skip shift, I feel a lot better.

You know, I had to get a new but cheap vehicle and I've owned a manual for 3 days now and already have started doing 2-4-6 shifts, with no issue in normal driving, seems reasonable that anyone else can do similar. 1st is pretty useless unless it's an extreme situation so usually I go for 2nd anyway. This probably doesn't solve anyone's issue but seemed like there is an awful lot of complaints. Not so many adapting and overcoming. When I get the BOSS I'll let you guys know how I feel when skip shift, if installed, is a problem. Or not.....

Skip Shift should only engages between 15-17 mph at less than 25% Throttle. Either shift at 2250 rpm or less (3.31) or give it some throttle.

2800 rpm in 1st (3.73) with less than 25% Throttle isnt productive anyway. You are killing fuel mileage while not gaining anything in acceleration.

I hit it 4 times the 2nd day (to see if it actually worked) and have not hit it in the next 3 months.

The issue is that we should not have to adapt to the shift-nanny.

I'm with you on this one. I see that little message pop up all day long and as long as you make a conscious effort to shift into second, it will go in no problem - Buttery smooth! The wife drove it the other day, and I forgot to tell her about the skip shift...almost every light she went from first to fourth. Once she realized, and I told her what was going on, no problem! First to Second everytime!

I probably wouldn't even spend 33 bucks to get rid of it, it hasn't bothered me yet.

Yeah, I figured, I just tend to push it a little higher to get at some kind of speed before I spend the second or two to shift to second. I don't hit it all the time, a lot of the time it goes in just as smooth as can be. I just don't like the odd time or two I hit it, it's disconcerting.

I was on a road trip that racked up well over 4000 miles and I don't think it engaged once. If Ford told me to list ten things I'd like to see changed/improved on the Mustang, this wouldn't be on the list. On the occasions when the skip-shift has activated, it let me shift into third. I often shift from 1 - 3 - 5 in town anyway.

Well, for max fuel mileage you obviously have to let the skip-shift do it's thing - that's why it's there, for maximum fuel economy and to make sure the car avoids the dreaded gas guzzler tax.
