Sirius Radio Problems

No problems with my Sirius radio reception for 14 monthsuntil last week. It started with the sound cutting out intermittently. After afew days of this , when starting the car, I was getting " No Signal"on my display. After a few more seconds, " Acquiring Satellite Signal " on the display. After a few more seconds, the radio would function correctly, but the sound would again start cutting out. While driving, the same would happen. I contacted Sirius and explained the problem. After some diagnostic checks on their part, I was advised that it is probably a hardware issue and to contact my dealer since the car is still under warranty . This confirmed my suspicions since ,while I have this problem even parked in our driveway , my wife's Elantra functions well and our home satellite receiver also has no issues .

Has anyone had similar issues, and if so, how was it corrected ? I'd like as much info as possible before I bring it back to the dealer .

Thanks in advance.

Has it been rainy in your area lately?

I've had the same issue with my plug and play Sirius units when the antenna was going bad or had gotten wet internally.

I would just make a visit to the dealer and tell them whats going on and what Sirius has said. Did they try to refresh your signal when you talked to them? Its under warranty so it a visit to the dealer won't cost you anything.

They did refresh my signal, but the problem still persisted. I'll book an appt. with the dealer tomorrow.
Thanks for your input.

could be dumb stuff like atmospheric conditions or one of their repeaters came offline or even them moving the satellites' orbit. would be interesting to ask dealer if they have seen a lot of people lately with the same issue.

Don't believe it could be atmospheric conditions. I have these issues even in my driveway, yet my wife's Elantra ( 10' away ) and my home unit ( 25' away) both work fine.

I lost signal to my Sirius about 2 months ago. I thought my service had expired, as I did not sign up for the automatic renewal. One phone call got me setup again (my service still had 5 months left). The tech at Sirius asked if I had bluetooth, which I replied yes, and I had sync'd a phone to it about 3 days prior. He said that may have caused an issue, although I don't understand how.

Anyhow, all is well, and no issues with bluetooth and Sirius on the radio. Hope the outcome is good for you.

Picked up the car at noon. They changed the antenna . All seems to be back to normal.
