should i trade up my 2010 gt to a 2011 5.0?
My 2010 is a sweet car, nice mods etc ...but i must admit 412hp is tempting, what do you think i could i get for my stang with only 4500 miles on it. i owe nothing on my car...i was thinking of stripping all my mods like new wheels tires breenspeed tune 12 way adjustable rear shocks and returning the car back to stock and trading it in. The only thing would regret is losing the shaftmasters aluminum driveshaft i just got and the eibach pro set i have on it. Unless they will fit the 2011.......what do you think?

Even if you own it outright, I would imagine you would instantly eat 5-10k on the transaction. Not worth it IMHO, buy some more mods 412hp is not hard for the 4.6 to achieve.

Just wait for the 2014 GT and all the goodies it will have. I'm looking at the 2011 as my wife really wants to get an automatic, so we'd have to sell our 2008 STI, and so I'm looking at losing a large amount of money myself.

I'm facing the same dilemna with my 2008 GT. Just doesn't make any kind of financial sense to get rid of my '08 GT and get an '11 though. My '08 GT will be paid off in a year or less, so I'll probably enjoy going without car payments for awhile, and look at maybe getting a 2012 or 2013 Mustang if a special edition is released that I find worthwhile, or wait for the 2014.5 50th anniversary edition.
You could easily upgrade your current 2010 GT to more hp than the 2011 GT has for less money than you'd lose by selling/trading the 2010 and buying a 2011.

But if it was me in this dilema, and I wish it was, I would drop a supercharger on the 2010 and go around looking for 2011 5.0 guys who thought there car was faster...

No way. Supercharge the 2010 for less money than your gonna lose on the trade. What if Ford ups the HP to 450 in 2012? Gonna trade again? When the 4.6 debuted in 96 it was 210 HP. Look at it now. Don't be an early 5.0 adopter because if the Camaro bumps the HP next year Ford will respond.

Yeah, there is at least one N/A 4.6 making well over 400 HP, running in the 10's if I remember correctly. MM&FF or 5.0 & Super Fords did a feature on it a while back, don't remember which mag it was.
But if it was me in this dilema, and I wish it was, I would drop a supercharger on the 2010 and go around looking for 2011 5.0 guys who thought there car was faster...

If/when I boost mine I'm going for 475 flywheel horse. Saleen, Roush and Ford Racing all have a 475 I/C model. I don't think I trust anything higher than 475 without breaking stuff.

Its not a smart move to do it obviously, a few people here are doing it though.
If you can afford the greater difference, why not. You'll probably get mid-low 20's depending what options.
You'd pay at least another 10k for the 2011.

If you're going to take at least a 5k hit. Why settle for 412hp even a "435hp" talked about in car mags, When for that same price throw on a Edlebrock E-force supercharger and pump 450hp+ to the wheels.
If all that's tempting you is horsepower, getting a 2011 from a 2010 isn't worth it.

Brenspeed is doing much the same too.

I definitely wouldn't do it. You'd take such a killing for a car that you've only driven for a year. For someone with a pre-2010 Mustang I could see it because then you're not just upgrading to a new engine and transmission, you're getting the beautiful new interior with Sync (at least if it's Premium).

I have a 2010 GT and want to trade it for a 2011 GT but it doesn't work out money wise. My car has about 6000 miles and in a trade I may get $24-26k, less than what I owe 8-( The MSRP was about $35K. Of course a private deal may make it possible but I am afraid selling something so expensive to someone off the street I don't know. Forged and fake checks, scams, ripoffs, etc worry me.
Some people talk about adding a SC and other stuff to a 4.6L to get extra power. I don't like that idea because I like leaving a car as much as stock as possible for various reasons. I have been around long enough to know that something always goes wrong with the best laid plains.
I would love a 2011 for more than just the 100 more horses. The 6 speed manual, Brembo brakes, electric sterring, track pack suspension, all those things added up make it a very desirable car. Plus for me I can get the color I really wanted, Race Red. Anyway, when I bought my 2010 GT back in July I was new to Mustangs and to Ford. I didn't know anything about a 5.0 2011 coming out. I had a lease Tahoe that was over milage which I had to get rid of and I needed a car fast. I still love my 2010 but if I could swing it I would love a 2011.

I bought the 2010 V6 pony... yeah i feel you. But its a daily driver, and frankly unless you plan on taking your car to the strip its doubtful you'd really notice the difference for 90-95% of your driving.
Myself, i'm now either looking to buying a 2011 GT a few years down the line used or off of lease, or more likely getting a 50th anniversary edition -- you know it'll be awesome.
